We found this gem while randomly searching online for our first trip to Florence. It is an updated and simple B&B. The stairwell leading up to the B&B initially concerned me, but once inside, my fears calmed. (Do keep in mind, there is no elevator and you will be walking up several steps into the B&B.)||The host provided superior service. Super communicative, helpful with recommendations, checked in often (not bothersome and all through Whats App), and was always at the ready to assist. When we checked in, the A/C in our room didn’t want to cool properly (it happened to be one of the hottest weeks of the year in Florence). He attempted to remedy immediately, however, we couldn’t get our room to cool as we wanted and he allowed us to move to another room the next morning (following a guest check out). The second room was cool and worked well for us. Breakfast pastries, meats/cheese, coffee, juices, yogurts, and hard boiled eggs are provided each morning in a kitchenette area. Laundry service was also provided (free of charge) upon request. After sweating it out in Rome several days leading up to our stay, it was SO nice to have freshy laundered items waiting for us upon return from a tour. The room itself was of good size for us as a couple; the bathroom is quite small with limited space around the sink – but is manageable. A bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate was a nice welcoming touch.||The B&B is located just above the Central Market. Shopping is right out the front door and I never felt it to be noisy or inconvenient. The vendor tents are put up and taken down each day. I also felt safe. We walked to almost all sites (most are within 20-25 min walk), and took the hop on and off bus tour on sites that were outside of our walking distances. ||Tips: the outdoor Centrale Market tents rarely have “legitimate” leather products. They are a combination of leather and faux materials and tend to degrade much quicker than the genuine products. Research ahead to find true leather vendors - which are typically a store, not a tent. Tip #2 – the B&B is in a limited traffic zone, which means you cannot drive or taxi directly to its entry. You will need to walk 1-2 blocks from the Central Market square. We found that the intersection of Via Taddea and Via Rosina worked well for taxi service.||We really enjoyed our stay - customer service at the B&B was excellent. I would gladly recommend...
Read moreI write this review as avid traveler trying to help other travelers. This is a nice place to stay. The host Carmine is amazing. He is really helpful, he keeps in contact through Whatsapp and told us about a holiday in the city in case things were closed. He provided recommendations for meals and sights - a really great guy. Breakfast is pretty basic stuff with croissants, cereals, yogurts, coffee, but all good and gets the job done. The laundry service was FABULOUS! The location is good. Florence is a very walkable city and everything is easy to get to from here. Now, I can only speak to the room we had - we had a room for 3 people with one bed when you enter and a loft with a twin bed. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked very well. The only thing about the room is, it felt very cramped. The room felt exactly like what it is which is made to make money. I don't begrudge anyone the opportunity to make money, I have a rental property myself. The place was not misrepresented in any way - it was just lacking a wee bit of space in that particular room. There was no room to put the suitcases, as the bed was right there when you entered, the steps to the loft and bathroom were on the left and I had to shove the suitcases on the other size of the bed and trip over them the whole time. This is because there was no dresser to put clothes in, so we lived out of the suitcase, which I don't mind, but having a place to put the the suitcase helps. The bathroom was about the size of a closet and the sink in it was VERY small - too small to wash your face in the morning - tiny. Did it do what it needed? Yes, we had a clean place to stay with breakfast, the shower, toilet, and sink worked, the air conditioning kept us cool in the heat - we enjoyed our stay. Just providing further details for travelers that like some additional...
Read moreThis is honestly one of the best places I have stayed.
First time trip to Italy and my husband and I stayed at B&B Lorenzo de' Medici as the second stop on our trip. We were in Florence for 7 days at this B&B, and it was a comforting, relaxing, and welcoming place to be.
Our host Carmine was very attentive and thoughtful. In addition to being present at the B&B throughout the day, he texted us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed and to provide information or tips to make our stay the best it could be.
Room was spectacularly clean. Towels are replaced every 2 days unless otherwise desired. They will also do your laundry if you desire. Complementary water, wine, and beer in mini fridge as well as espresso maker. Breakfast starts at 7:30 but Carmine is able to be flexible if you have a early tour to work around. And the breakfast is delicious -- please try the cheesecake, it's so good!
Also the location is awesome. It's right across from the Mercato Centrale and just a few blocks from the Duomo, Baptistery, and the tower. Just a little longer walk and you can reach the Uffizi Gallery or the Accademia (where the statue of David is). Plenty of restaurants nearby as well.
And even with the close proximity to the market, you don't hear a thing because the windows are soundproofed and work well even for us light sleepers.
Staying at B&B Lorenzo de' Medici is a huge reason we enjoyed our trip, and next time we go to Florence, we will not hesitate to stay here again. It was honestly sad to leave because Carmine's kindness was so welcoming to us first time...
