We are pretty low maintenance travelers. We have traveled to many European countries and understand the differences in accommodations. We look for clean rooms, with an en-suite bath, close to transportation, and requiring AC in case it is hot. On paper, this hotel checked off these boxes and offered breakfast (which we like when it is available). This hotel room failed in many of the basics. First, we had to go to the sister hotel to check in. (It was reasonably close. But it is annoying to have to take your luggage past your accommodation to check in and then carry it back.) We were given “bath” towels that literally had holes in them and were only a little larger than a hand towel. (Note, I complained about this the next morning and was given real bath towels that were nice.) The bathroom was very narrow. I’m a small woman and I had to walk side ways in the room. I could use the toilet normally. Though I needed to be careful not to hit anything. But if you are tall, you would probably have to sit in the seat diagonally. The bedroom was clean and good sized but lacked places to put things, as did the bathroom. There was literally no place to put our bathroom kits. It was noisy. I could hear people in the next room talking. I’ve never been to a hotel that didn’t have breakfast when they said they would. Breakfast starts at 7:30am. We had to walk to the other hotel for breakfast. When we got there about 7:40, it was dark and the door was locked. We came back after 8am and it was open. When I talked to them about the towels, I also mentioned breakfast. I was told 7:30am was correct. The next two days, the same thing happened only we were standing outside in the rain with a half dozen other guests. Eventually The lady setting up breakfast unlocked the door. However, she didn’t have breakfast out yet. We were able to get coffee and yogurt. When we left (8:00ish) the food wasn’t all out yet. A few other notes that didn’t affect us much but I know are important to a lot of people. They said they have an elevator, but it was limited to luggage when we were there. The air conditioner didn’t work. I’m not sure if they turned it off or it was broken. We were able to use the windows to cool off the room before we went to sleep. We needed to close them because of noise and rain at night. Overall, this hotel is not worth the rates...
Read moreabsolutely abysmal. i’ve stayed in a lot of bad hotels in my day, but this one is just ridiculous. do not waste your money here. the rooms are tiny, but that’s not even the problem. there is no desk or table or even fold-out luggage stand, so everything you bring has to go on the floor. there is no phone. there is no mini fridge. there is no microwave. there is no staff on-site, so you need to walk down the road to another location if you need anything. the bed is AWFUL. it is rock hard and the springs stick into your back all night long, making it impossible to get comfortable. the pillows are also rock hard and completely flat (see picture), you can’t fluff them up even a little bit because they’re so hard. we woke up with aching necks and backs to see dead bugs in the bed. the shower is impossibly small, has mildew, and there isn’t even a cover on the drain. the screws sticking out of the wall (see picture) are the only places you can hang a robe or towel near the shower. if you want to lock your room from the inside, for example when you’re sleeping, you have to use the room key to literally lock yourself in. there is zero counter space whatsoever, so good luck getting ready. there is a little sign on the shelf (see picture) that has coffee and other items on it, but i have no idea where one would obtain any of the things listed, because they definitely are not here. on top of that, the guy who checked us in said all of the rooms are on the first floor, but someone above us has been loudly moving furniture across hard floors for hours on end, so i’m not sure what that’s about. lake como is gorgeous but i can’t wait to leave because this hotel is so insufferably bad. only stay here if you want to struggle the whole time and have your entire experience marred by how...
Read moreWhile I don’t expect a high end resort, I did expect things to be safe and sanitary. After checking into our room, the room was very warm. We noticed that the air conditioner was not working properly. I had to call an emergency after hours phone number at 8 pm to try to resolve the problem. To no avail, no one would help me until the following morning. So one night without air conditioning. The following morning I advised the front desk - which is located at a different hotel - a couple of blocks down the street, that in addition to the air conditioner, the TV was not working either. That morning the air was fixed, but not the TV. Finally later that evening, the toilet top broke and of course there was no one on the property to address the issue. The flowing morning on check out, I advised the young man at the front counter of our issues. When asked about some compensation for our inconvenience, the young man said he couldn’t...
