We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, and, yes, I would strongly recommend this place to all visitors of Rome. I really enjoyed many aspects about this hotel:
#1. The hotel staff is so friendly and very helpful. As soon as we walked in, Mr. Colorado greeted us with a big, welcoming smile. He helped us check-in, answered our questions about directions to notable tourist sites, and lifted our luggage to our room. Mr. Gianluca was the staff member in the late afternoons and evenings, and he was very friendly and helpful as well. There are two other gentlemen (one young man with glasses; and one who was older and worked the very late nights into the morning) who were great to us as well, but I did not catch their names. Thanks for the excellent hospitality, Gentlemen.
#2. Convenient communication. We communicated with the staff using WhatsApp, and the staff responded nearly instantly with whatever request we had. We were able to book restaurants and call taxis through this service, making things so convenient for non-locals or those who don’t speak Italian.
#3. The hotel location was very convenient for us. It is only a 2-minute walking distance from the subway metro (Cavour station). This made it convenient to get any where in the city. Also, it’s about a 10–12 minute walking distance from the great Colosseum! Also, the hotel is about a 30–40 minute taxi drive (depending on traffic), which isn’t bad if you’re staying near the city center.
#4. Breakfast. The breakfast buffet does not have the variety of what you’d get at a large chain luxury hotel, but it has everything you need: Juices, pastries, eggs, sausages, yogurt, cereal, tea, etc. plus there is unlimited coffee options made personally for you! The morning breakfast staff are also very friendly and continuously asking if you need anything. The Filipino lady who works in the mornings (I didn’t get her name) is such a sweet and kind person, and smiles to everyone. 🙏
#5. There are many places to eat near the hotel. I would recommend Ristorante Tema (Italian) and Gelateria S.M.Maggiore (gelato). The peach and pistachio gelato at this gelato store is the best in Rome!
#6. Rooftop and the happy hour (6–8pm) is great. Definitely go up there at sunset and enjoy the sky view over free snacks and drinks.
#7. Rooms, albeit not large, are very comfortable and cozy. No complaints here.
We didn’t experience any major negatives. One thing I’ll mention is that the rooms, hallways, and stairways are comparatively small and narrow, but that’s what you should be expecting at a boutique hotel in Europe.
Overall, this place 100% satisfied our needs! We will come back if we...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Italy for our honeymoon and I am super happy to say that our stay at the Dharma Boutique Hotel was fantastic! We stayed there for our first 3 nights and again for one final night before returning home.
The hotel only has 13 rooms which made the experience feel very intimate and personalized. Any time you would come or go from the hotel, the amazing team at the reception would check-in with you and see if there was anything you needed or if you wanted any help or suggestions for your stay in Rome. Thank you so much to Raffael, Gianluca and Colorado who were the three guys we interacted with the most during our stay. Each of them made us feel super welcome. They offered us excellent recommendations on places to go and visit while in Rome including suggestions on the best places to eat nearby in Monti. One of the recommendations, Pasta Urbana, which is a few minutes down the road was my favorite restaurant of our entire stay! Even before our visit the team at Dharma Boutique would check-in via e-mail with us and answer any questions we had. They helped arrange a private airport transfer to and from FCO which I highly recommend. Nothing like having peace of mind when traveling a new city for the first time. They even stayed in touch with us when we were away visiting and staying in other parts of Italy. We downloaded WhatsApp and were able to message them with any questions during our trip. They made Rome feel like home away from home for us.
For a first timer to Rome, I also wanted to note that the location of this hotel in Monti was perfection. We could easily walk to all the main site seeing attractions as well as the terimini train station where we rented a car to drive to Tuscany.
Lastly, I am thrilled to say that our experience in Rome and at Dharma Boutique Hotel was very LGBT friendly. The team at Dharma provided us with a special honeymoon package that included rose petals on the bed, a bottle of prosecco, chocolates, spa access and a special in-room breakfast. My husband was really surprised and the experience made for an amazing start to our honeymoon! On our second stay for our last night in Italy they even wrote us a personal welcome back message and gave us these cute cookies that said "love" on them. For any future visits to Rome, I will most definitely be staying at Dharma Boutique Hotel again! Thank you so so much Raffael, Gianluca, Colorado and the other amazing team members at Dharma...
Read moreWell, I do not have enough words to describe how great our experience at the Dharma was, on July of 2023. Me and my colleague (pilots on a trip) staid at the hotel for a total of 6 nights.
The hotel is nice, clean and cozy, and the rooms are modern and seem to have been remodeled within a year or two, so looking almost brand new.
The location is incredible as well! You are probably less than 10 minutes walk to the Colosseum, maybe 15 minutes walk from Trevi fountain, about 10 minutes away from the main train station of Rome (Termini).
But where the hotel really shines, and it has been a unique experience, that I have never had ever before, anywhere else in the world (I typically spend about 50-100 nights a year at hotels) is the impeccable and impressive customer service from the front desk! Antonio, Colorado, Gianluca, and the rest of the guys went really above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! Their recommendations were always spot on, their ideas about where to go and what to do were always great, I could keep going on and on, and on...
As I came here to leave my review, I was really curious as to how can it be that someone left a negative review on the hotel; to save you the trouble of finding out what happened, it was a couple that were dining at a restaurant/bar next door, and tried to use the restroom at the hotel, and whatever happened, both of them came back to leave a nasty review. Well, that's the internet for you, with its good and its bad...
Now, if I really had to find something bad about the hotel, I would say that it does not have parking available on the premises (but then again, it is in the heart of historic Rome, so I wouldn't expect it to have, anyway).
This is one of the businesses that I want it to go well, so it stays in business and it continues to operate for years to come, so if I ever go to Rome again, I can stay at the same place. At the same time, I almost want it to stay a secret, as it is such a gem, that I am afraid that next time it will be impossible for us to find room availability.
All in all, if you are looking for a hotel to stay for your next visit to the Eternal City, and you are browsing the reviews to make up your mind, then look no more. Your search is done, and if you are lucky enough to have found a room available, go ahead and grab it right away! You can thank me later; but for now, you are welcome.
