We usually come here once a year on our trips thru Rome...we live in Abruzzo and the States and go back and forth. I don't know what is going on but last night was terrible. I agree with others in that the gelato was only average, flavors were off, and the service abysmal. The nearby restaurant has taken over the entire space in front and the gelateria seemed dark and hidden. I had the ginger/pineapple, the balance of ginger was way over the top (I'm Eurasian so I know ginger) almost like chewing on a raw piece. I asked for the chocolate/orange and got what seemed to be chocolate chili. It tasted vegetal, and the first time in my 30+ years in Italy that I've thrown away gelato as inedible. In addition, the owner (?) is tired, cranky, and doesn't want to be there (the tall lanky guy.) And what's with the tiny melon baller scoop portions. Come to Abruzzo/Le Marche, some award winning gelaterie there with spectacular base mixtures, flavors, and maestri gelatieri. I know it's been a stressful 2 summers for all of us in Italy, but if you're tired of dealing with the tourists maybe it's time to...
Read moreLoved: ice cream are dairy-free (and free of other allergens depending on flavor). flavors are unique and interesting. Downsides: small portions. the gentleman running the store was as unfriendly as it gets. We were made to feel like an annoyance because we didn't instantly know what to order. The flavors are not marked anywhere other than inside the cases so you have to look at each ice cream and read its name and description. Add the fact that i have 4 children and 2 of them need my help reading, so yes as a result we weren't ready to place our order in the span of a minute. If you want your customers to place a quick order, may i suggest writing your flavors above your register or even on the door outside your shop so that it can be read from...

Store wasn’t too busy but the gelato guy wasn’t very helpful. I asked for the bestsellers and he said that basically everything was popular. A bit cocky, but okay.
Next I ordered the smallest cup, and asked if I could do 2 flavors and a tiny bit of a third just to taste an extra flavor. He said yes but didn’t tell me it would cost a full upgrade to the next gelato size of 3 full scoops. It would have been fine, just would have appreciated a heads up on this.
Lastly, gelato quality was really bad. Had icey bits. The cocky service didn’t justify the lackluster quality of gelato.
Really unfortunate that the quality isn’t the...
