It was our first time to stay in this type of accommodation. To be honest, if I knew that it was not a hotel, I wouldn't book it. By saying this I admit that pictures and descriptions mislead me, I thought Ripense in Trastevere is a normal hotel. It took us long time to find the building too, as we were looking for a big hotel sign. We passed by and missed the building at least 4 times without noticing that it was the place we were looking for. However, once we found it, we were completely happy with the room, the comfort, the cleanness. We had the room on the picture. Its bigger that the average hotel rooms, the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast was arranged in 3 different coffee shops (by choice) within the neighborhood, which again was surprising to me, but overall positive. The location is very good - Its walking distance to Capitoline Hill, next to the building is a bus stop for N.23 which comes from Vatican city area and continues to Tiburtina train station where is connection for the airports, there is another stop within 5 min walk to catch the tram N.8 which goes to Piazza Venezia, bus stop for bus 8 and H which go to Termini train station. Another very positive point about the location is Trastevere area itself - beautiful charming place. We would consider to stay in...
Read moreThis was the final stay of a two-week stay in northern Italy, and it was such a great, comfortable home base for those final few nights.
Like most local Italian hotels it's smaller than what we're used to in the US, but we still felt very comfortable and not squeezed as long as we kept our things tidy. The room was clean and comfy, and the attached balcony was a perfect little private hideaway on the one evening we wanted that quiet break from busier locations around the city. We also loved the included light breakfast at a local cafe, thought that was a perfect way to start our days.
Fausta was a fantastic host: super accommodating, had great recommendations for places to visit and even helped us make dinner and drink reservations when needed, and even assisted with our early morning taxi booking to get to the airport. A+ hosting, all around.
The location is also phenomenal, pretty close to bus stations but also very walkable to many of our top spots to see, as well as being right on the Tiber and allowing us to walk past the Teatro di Marcello multiple times a day. And with so much amazing dining and nightlife in Trastevere, this was a great spot to be returning to anyway in the evening.
Absolutely would stay again,...
Read moreStayed here for 4 nights with my wife to celebrate my 50th birthday.||The guest house is tremendous. We had the double room with sofa bed and the room was huge. The room was also spotless and had everything we needed - plenty of power points, tea and coffee making facilities, TV and a fridge with cold cans which were reasonably priced. ||If I had one small criticism of the room it would be the shower which was a bit low for me but this is a very minor issue.||The location of the guest house is really good as well. About 20 mins walk to the Colosseum and about 40 mins to the Vatican. ||You are also minutes walk from a huge amount of bars, cafes and restaraunts.||Breakfast is provided by a voucher system which you can redeem in 2 cafes situated very nearby. ||Breakfast is basic - coffee, juice, pastry and toast but was adequate for us.||All the staff we met were super friendly and helpful and we felt that nothing was to much trouble, for example, when we arrived our room wasn't ready (we knew this would be the case), they put our bags somewhere safe and when we returned the bags had been moved into the room. A small point maybe but a nice touch IMO.||We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ripense and would...
