Truly one of the worst dining experiences of my life... the moment my girlfriend & I opened the door the extremely unfriendly hostess seemed "surprised?"/shocked we were even there... the place was empty... she barked at us if we had a reservation we didn't, she continued to be so rude as she "checked" her empty reservation book, and then her local friends barged passed us in the door way... she immediately lit up friendly as could be .. laughing and joking politely with them not us.... I am Irish, my girlfriend is American.. what few guests did arrive seemed local... but seems like this business does not appreciate foreigners or their money.

As I sat in the aisle side of the table a waiter literally kicked my chair inwards demanding I need to move in, as she beckoned him to do so, rudely growling instructions to 'move move' - I'm a large man... i was as far in as I could go.. looked behind me to see SO much room, and politely informed this rude waiter unless I start floating in the air there's nowhere i can go

Without asking then my coat was pulled off my chair without my permission, actually ripping part of the inner pocket, and brought to some some storage area because apparently my coat suddenly needed to go there... in this action my scarf fell to the ground... the ridiculously rude waiter then barked at me to take my scarf off the floor... I then informed him since he ripped my coat of my chair, with my scarf, he could store them together

The table beside us were clearly friends of the hostess/restaurant... they spoke loudly to eachother in Italian... looking our way and pointing with an atmosphere of "what are they even doing here" and making us feel so uncomfortable

I rarely review, ever. For me to 'sleep on it' , even after a negative experience, speaks truly to the fact of how utterly pathetic the customer experience is in this place. Avoid Avoid Avoid....

Tourist trap (English menu) I would just like to first point out this was the worst resturant we visited in Rome and the most expensive at €80

We booked a table for when they opened we were the first in the resturant yet we were seated right in front of the wine cabinet which was just problematic all night when we had arms just passing our faces all the time to reach over for a bottle. I'm not to sure why we were seated here.

The starters were actually okay to be honest. The problem actually was with the mains. I ordered a classic carbonara, I didn't think an Italian resturant could mess up a carbonara as much as they did. I honestly tried to eat it but it was so difficult after every couple of bites I needed water it was so salty. I passed my plate to my husband to try and he commented the same thing. I'm hugely disappointed because carbonara has been on point everywhere else we visited.

Our plates were cleared from the table and we were drinking our bottle of wine. The chef proceeded to stand behind my chair to intimidate us to leave. Its absolutely disgusting to do this to paying guests. They never gave themselves the opportunity to fix things by asking why I didn't eat my food, that's not my fault as a guest. I never said anything, I wasn't rude either we just tried to enjoy the rest of the meal. My husband was very upset and asked if we could leave, but they came over a nice as you like for us to pay the bill. When we were leaving the chef was standing on the front door step of the resturant smoking and was very rude as we left. I really don't recommend this place to anyone they are so rude, and it is massively overpriced.

€80...

*RACISM ALERT Foreigners, especially those of Color, please NOTE, the female owner is an extreme racist who is not afraid of abusing patrons of dark skin color.

Unfortunately the racial discrimination my friend and I experienced from the owner/service outweighed the excellence of the food. My Italian friend made a reservation for us based on the recommendation of Rome-dwelling friends of ours. The owner, a woman, took an extreme dislike to us, very sadly for racial reasons. She skipped us multiple times despite the fact we had made a reservation in the morning and waited an hour well past the time. She said very foul things to my friend -basically verbally abused her while she was eating. If I had known I would have demanded we leave but my friend did not translate the taunts because she was too polite. The owner was very rude and curt with me. Then they overcharged us for everything (we were charged triple the amounts, even for bread!), while offering the white, French couple in the table right next to us free items and saying loudly to them, in Italian and English, that we were a pair of awful girls. My friend and I had done nothing to deserve this. I suspect the treatment was based on the fact of my friend's skin dark color and my ethnicity and was totally prejudiced. I would not recommend and I honestly wish we had never gone. The food's flavor just mad us ill from the toxic experience from the owner, who is no no short...

2 days in Rome itinerary 🧡🍦👇🏼 🛎 Stay: at @hoteledenrome located by the Spanish steps (major plus!) 🍝 what to eat: my favorite when in Rome, pasta amatriciana, carbonara and cacio e pepe. During our short stay we wanted to try local dishes and enjoy great views so we tried both! For beautiful views of Rome and incredible food, La Terraza at Hotel Eden Rome, and for some neighborhood pasta, Pasta e Vino and Trattoria da Teo in Trastevere. 🍦 for gelato: Venchi was the one we tried the most due to its proximity to the Pantheon, but we also like Come il Latte, Il Gelato di San Crispino and Giolitti 🎨 What to do: Walk the city! You can’t see it all in 2 days but you can visit most of the many great neighborhoods in Rome. We visited some of our favorite with @imagoartistravel, who gave us a food tour to Trastevere and a visit to the Colosseum. We also loved Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Jewish Ghetto and Monti, for great proximity to sites and good food! 🏷 save for your next visit! #DCmoments #atasteofeden #iat #imagoartistravel

We went for the food since we wanted Roman food on our last night in Rome. We walked 25 minutes out of our way to try this restaurant. When we arrived the lady was extremely rude and told us we have to call to make reservations when we were already right there and there were clearly open seats. So out of principle we called and made reservations so we could be seated. A man picked up the phone and we were told to come back in 30 minutes. It was kind of awkward lol but we came, we ate, and we conquered. I think the lady was being mean to us specifically because after we sat we asked the man next to us if he had to “make a reservation” and he said no he just sat down. I’m not sure why as a paying customer we were treated differently than others. I understand being grumpy or being in a bad mood but clearly that wasn’t the case. The lady wasn’t able to make eye contact with us when we came back because she knew she was treating us differently. Who knows why she was so mean. My friend said she was being racist, but I guess we’ll never know. Maybe one day I’ll go back and ask her. Or maybe not. I’ve already wasted my time writing this review. I hope it helps someone who might be thinking of eating here. Overall vibes 1/10 good food but nothing incredible or memorable so 6/10 for food Atmosphere 3/10 nothing special Probably would not recommend considering there are so many other options!

We know that this famous restaurant opens at 7:30 pm for dinner, but it would have been nice to give some consideration to customers like us who were waiting outside in the rain. They started accepting customers at 7:40 pm, so it was quite stressful despite having a reservation already. We were among the very first to arrive, and when we asked to be seated inside, the female staff sternly told us we can't choose our table and we HAVE to sit outside. When we were seated, we could see and hear other waiters and customers arguing because of the waiting line. The atmosphere, coupled with rain, was uncomfortable and awkward. Despite the rough start, we still had a splendid meal--a generous portion of bread and salad, the best carbonara we've had so far in Rome, and fall-off-the-bones chicken with peppers cooked in a savory tomato sauce. I could understand why this was highly recommended by travel guides. The dishes would have been enough to compensate the negative start, but the overall experience was marred, by yet again, the service. We were served complementary dessert biscuits, which was nice, but we were asked to leave a tip, to which we were caught by surprise. Tipping has never been common in Italy, and we've never experienced it until now. Being requested for tips left a bad after-taste of what could have been a great dining experience in Trastevere.
