This place is great, colonnades down 2 sides, sheltering you from the weather, there are shops and bars underneath, everything from souvenir shops to higher end stores, and also nice cafes and bars. It's a stop on tram and bus lines, so it's easy to get to. Palazzo Madame is on one corner, the royal opera house is on the other side, and it's really cool because the opera house plays music all day and you can just sit outside and listen while taking in the Castello in the center of the Piazza. In the mornings, when I was there (July) the swallows that lived in the walls of the Castello would swoop down and around the Piazza, so many of them, really cool. There is one of the little bull drinking water taps on the side of the Castello nearest palazzo Madame . Renovation works were taking place during my visit, so it took me a while to realize, you can go in, which I did on my last morning. Oh my goodness, was I glad I did! The ground floor is stunning medieval art, the next floor up, has more recent art, and you just keep going up, each floor filled with beautiful history, the top floor has leather, glass, china and stone displayed in cabinets, tiny cups, picnic baskets filled with china, not a plastic cup in sight! Books bound in leather, and all so old, but still perfect. Then up another floor and you are on the roof , with beautiful views of the Piazza and streets around the area. A small word of warning if you have vertigo or similar issues with space, once you go in the front door, you will be directed to the room in the right, it's fascinating, about the making of the city and history going back hundreds of years, they have excavated , so you can see the street as it was , it's underneath your feet, you will be walking in a glass floor, it can be very disorienting, but worth it, I'm so glad I got to see it, and you should come too, I highly...

Chapeau a Somewher Tours&Events, organizzatrice...
