Out of the 100s of hotels I've stayed at, this is the worst and a giant scam. In the photos for the room we booked, it had hardwood floors and a clean bedroom/bathroom. Instead, we got a room with old, dirty carpet and the bathroom's disgusting. I'll break it down into 3 categories for ease: Cleaniness, Comfort, Safety.
Cleanliness: There are stains everywhere in the toilet, like on the sink. And the shower, instead of a glass barrier, is a 3-sided curtain. The shower is very cramped, so as soon as you turn the shower on, the curtain collapses on you and you get hugged by mildew and bacteria. There's also a bunch of mildew/mold on the shower curtains, as is common, but the problem here is that it is cramped so you will keep rubbing it against yourself while showering.
Once you survive the shower and step out of it, you'll realize the floor is all wet, because the shower curtain does a poor job of blocking the water, so water will get everywhere on the floor and every time you use the restroom (until the next cleaning), you'll be stepping on either puddles of water or wet towels.
Comfort: After you shower, you notice the room is very hot despite outside being quite cold. So, you open the window to let cool air in because there's no AC. There's a problem though which is that it's extremely noisy. Drunks will yell/sing deep into the night. And last night, they kept singing loudly until 2AM. The courtyard carries noise very well so the drunken, off-tune singing gets channeled extremely loudly, directly into the room.
So you close your window and say to yourself, "OK I'll just be hot and try to sleep, at least it's better than hearing very loud drunk noises the whole night." Well, too bad. The windows are single-paned so you still hear people outside very clearly.
Miraculously, the people outside stopped singing and you can finally go to sleep, right?
Haha, wrong again! The walls are paper thin so you can clearly hear pipes running, which neighbor is showering, what TV shows they're watching, and anyone walking around upstairs.
This place is hell and being deprived of sleep is a form of torture.
Safety: Inside the hotel is fine. But outside can be quite sketch at night, as is the case near any train station.
As the faucets in the bathroom is quite leaky, floors can get slippery if you do not turn off the shower and sink faucets with a vice grip. Could be a hazard there.
In Summary: This place has free breakfast!
But you'll be fighting tooth and nail with other guests for juice and scrambled eggs, which disappear in seconds when they come out.
We booked this place shoulder season, and we didn't even book the...
Read moreI stayed at the hotel roma e Rocca Cavour a few weeks back as I was visiting friends in the city. The location was important because I'll didn't have a car so being close to the train station and the metro station as well as the city center was ideal for me. I didn't need to book a parking space, but I think that they are available. When I arrived, I was welcomed by the smiling staff. I had many questions about transportation and they were super nice and patient showing me the map and explaining itineraries. The hotel has too elevators, so you rarely have to wait. I went up to my room, I chose a smaller single room, because I knew I would be out most of the time. The room was very bright and well-kept.The furniture matches the style of this historic hotel, which is quite nice compared to some of the generic soulless style you see out there. The mattress was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. I had a big window door in my room, but hardly heard the noise from the street. Next morning, I was pleasantly surprised by the large and bright breakfast room. Quite a bit of choice of sweet and savoury food, including eggs, croissants and very good homemade cakes. I also had a freshly pressed juice shot. (OK, maybe I had two! )From where I was sitting, I could see the kitchen, which is tidy and clean. The staff was attentive, but quite busy adding food and cleaning up tables for the next guests. There isn't any table service, it's a buffet. I forgot to mention that there is no water bottles in the rooms, as the hotel has decided to eliminate plastic as much as possible (says a sign). There are water fountains in the hallway that even make sparkling water. You can take water back to your room in a pitcher and glasses. I couldn’t use the terrace on the roof because I visited in winter. But behind the reception, there’s a room with bar service. I saw people having drinks, but didn’t go myself, as I was out with my friends every night.vOn my last day, I left my luggage at the reception and went for a final tour of the city. I really enjoyed walking down via Roma and the adjacent streets. I didn't do much shopping, but the place is full of nice shops, coffeeshops, and places to eat. In front of the hotel, I went for a stroll in the small park. Not the most beautiful, but quite pleasant and probably quite green in the Spring. I ended up not taking the metro but using trams instead. It's a nice way to visit the city. Overall a great stay - I will be staying here again when I come...
Read moreThe hotel is very clean, with an excellent location. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are spacious. Our room was overlooking the square (Piazza Carlo Felice), which is busy all day being so close to the Porta Nuova station. Check-in and check-out were fast, service is efficient, and breakfast is good.||There were a few things we found that could be improved upon though:|* The room was very noisy all through the night|* The air conditioner is quite noisy - even on the lowest fan setting (actually helped to reduce the noise coming from the outside though!). It does keep the room cool however.|* There is no kettle in the room, and we had to ask for one - which we understand. However, on checking-out we were told that this carried a EUR 10 charge. We didn't mind the fee, but we could have been told beforehand that it was not free. After all, we have been in many hotels and we always found (at least) a kettle in the room. We didn’t even use the teabags provided with the kettle, we used our own… It looked like a cheap plastic travel kettle.|* The bathroom needs at least one other towel hanger for a hand towel. The soap dispenser was located directly over a power outlet and a couple of feet away from the sink. Also, no bin liners were provided, which is quite unsanitary. The toilet is quite uncomfortable, being so high off the ground (and I’m not that short at 181cm).|* The television antenna cord was disconnected when we first got into the room, small thing that was easily fixed, but this could have been checked before new guests enter the room (the cable was literally dangling).|* The chairs provided in the room are nice, but need maintenance. The joints need to be re-glued as all the pieces were coming loose whenever you just sat on the chairs. |* No safe in the room|* The napkins provided during breakfast are the type you get when buying ice cream in a gelateria, small, and don’t really do the job. ||Overall a good hotel, and I wouldn’t mind staying there again, but with a little more attention to detail it could have been a much...
