I was in a rush when I booked our triple room. The night before we came to Venice, I read the bad reviews and was afraid to spend the night there because of the bed bugs reviews. When we arrived we left our bags in the reception and then checked in at 14:00. As soon as we entered our room we checked the beds and it seemed pretty clean, no weird stains or anything. The first night we went to bed and got woken up by a bed bug on my friend’s pillow. We then proceeded to check our beds and we found more bugs, that had bitten us. It was 1:00 in the morning, I texted the owner on WhatsApp and then called and asked for another room, he sent a worker to our room (the janitor ?) who walked us to our new room. As soon as we entered we saw a bed bug on the wall. Therefore, we were scared to sleep the rest for the night. The next day, we texted the owner in the afternoon and asked for a refund. At first, he didn’t really want to give it to us but he ended up understanding the situation and refunded the night we spent there even though I didn’t mentioned that he didn’t had to. Generally speaking the hotel is pretty old but it matches Venice’s vibe, the location was good too and the foreign worker was really nice to us. The only problem seems to be the bed bugs.

We initially chose this hotel because it advertised having a parking lot. Since Venice is a city for walking, parking options are very limited. However, when we tried calling the hotel multiple times to confirm the parking, no one answered—this was our first red flag. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a very unpleasant odor in the lobby. They informed us that the parking lot was actually part of another hotel located far away, and we would need to park there and return to the hotel by bus. Additionally, the check-in time was listed as 14:00, but they said it was 14:30. Later in the day, we finally checked into our room, but it was a shocking experience. There was a pair of socks left in the bathroom, and the bathroom itself was very dirty. Concerned about cleanliness, we inspected the room for insects or bugs but didn’t see anything at first, so we decided to stay. The next morning, however, we woke up to find bed bugs on the beds and walls. Horrified, we checked out of the hotel immediately. Even now, we are still itching, and red spots have appeared on our skin. We absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

So disgusting and dirty, is it full of bedbugs! Dont stay here, not worth at all! The poor higiene condition this place has is alarming. It is highly unattended and smelly, and, frankly, the “staff” is unqualified to manage a hostel. Terribly rude and un empathetic. The “manager”, Angelina, is never there because of how bad the place is! No one wants to be at Ai Boteri. Not even her! There's not even hot water in the shower unless you go to another part of the hotel which is for other guests, or to the floor upstairs, that it is also for other guests. It is not what it is shown on it's Booking pictures, it is dirty and if a Health Inspector would see them, they would probably get a ticket or be shut down after an inspection! The beds are plagued by bedbugs! I can't believe I payed to stay there for what I got in exchange. A true nightmare. Definitely would like my money back!!

So many problems......AVOID!||||We booked to stay here for one night before an early morning flight home from Venice. I cried (literally) with anger at myself for booking this place!||||I spent many hours, days even, trawling Booking.com to find a hotel that was budget friendly and had parking. We have a three year old who refuses a pram so locality was also important.||||I thought I had hit the jackpot with this hostel cheapish and had parking. With low expectations understanding it was a hostel I went ahead and booked (no refunds allowed). In the communication when booking I stated that I needed parking. I was then told that parking was not at the hostel but their sister hotel. This is fair enough, but it was not indicated this would be the deal on the site. The sister hotel was a bus and vaporetto ride away costing €11pp each way taking 45 minutes. €12 to park the car in an unsecured car park. ||||We then arrived at the hostel at 1.50pm. There was no one at the desk and so we sent a WhatsApp to the number provided stating that we had arrived for check in. They were not happy to come check us in until dead on 2pm. ||||When the receptionist turned up she seemed annoyed that we were there, there was also another family waiting to check in. ||Finally we were shown to our room. Basic, but it's a hostel, so expectations are low. We have stayed at hostels before, we know how it works. We booked a private room with a bathroom due to having our three year old in tow.||||When we were shown to the room we were shown how to use the mosquito plug, which I thought was a bit odd at the time, but makes sense now. (It's a ploy). There was no air conditioning and the noise from the street below was noisy, but in fairness it did quiet by night time. ||||Roll on night time. We returned at 9pm with a tired three year old but could not enter the property as the door was broken (door remained ajar the rest of the night as a result, so not the best security) when we contacted the staff about the issue we were told to ring the bell, which we had done along with business owners in the street. After finally being let in we decided to go to bed to get some sleep before our early departure. ||||We had the mosquito plug in use as shown, but there still seemed to be a high amount of bugs 'coming in' after I had killed a few crawlies that clearly weren't mosquitos I decided to take a closer look. I was mortified to see at least 7 of these bugs in a cluster on my little ones bed. ||The room was infested with Bed bugs! ||||After taking of the bedding in the room to check our suspicions, we decided it was in our best interest to leave! The room was crawling, the bugs were clear as day walking about. ||I assume the mosquito plug is a ploy to make you think you have been bitten by mosquitos not bed bugs. ||When we left the room a man was at the desk, my husband stated that we were leaving due to bed bugs. He acted shocked! Eventually were told that a new room was available and had been checked. We needed to sleep and so accepted the room, not before checking for clear evidence of bugs first. This room, which was next door to our original, was much larger and had an air con unit. If this was free why weren't we given this 1st? We also noted brand new mattresses. ||||I have since looked at past reviews and it seems the bed bug problem has been here since 2010! A long time to not have it under control! How this place is still running I do not know!||||I feel sorry for the backpackers! ||||Così tanti problemi... EVITARE! L'hotel affiliato era raggiungibile in autobus e vaporetto e costava € 11 a persona a tratta, impiegando 45 minuti. Siamo quindi arrivati all'ostello alle 13:50. Abbiamo già soggiornato in ostelli, sappiamo come funziona.

Avoid like the plague.....or maybe you might catch the plague at this place. |We arrived in the late afternoon, paid tourist tax on arrival. Was shown to our 'room' which was very small, beds very close together, was dirty and didn't look like the photos.||The receptionist then went off to find us the bedroom key, came back with about 30 different keys, none of which were the right ones for the bedroom door. Her solution to us not having a key to access our own room was to leave the door open, in a shared room, in a hostel! There were lockers in the room however when I asked for a key to access them, yet again she had no key. Her solution to this problem was to store our stuff in the bottom of an open wardrobe, in a shared room, in a hostel, which 5 minutes ago she was advising us to leave the bedroom door open!! So effectively not only could anyone enter the room (or we could not re enter the room) they could also access our belongings. ||With no way to access and re enter our bedroom and no where to securely store our belongings we promptly left the street door key on the desk and left (paying an absolute fortune for a replacement hotel as it was now pretty late and dark).||Since I have been home I have made 3 calls with booking.com to get some sort of refund. The receptionist has lied and said we never checked in - which we obviously did else I wouldn't of had the misfortune to experience the above or take a photo inside the place. I am still in the process of obtaining some sort of refund from them as so far the answer has been a flat no. ||Additionally, when you book it says 2 guests, 2 rooms. It does not mean 2 rooms, it actually means 2 beds, 1 room. So double check this if you have not heeded any of the prior story and still feel it is a good idea to book here.||The moral of this story is, save yourself a lot of hassle, spend a bit more somewhere else where you can actually re enter the bedroom you have paid to stay in with a proper key.||Oh and there were flies and a bad...

AVOID. The people who run this place are liars. I posted a review on bookingcom about how I arrived at the hostel at 1400 but had to wait AN HOUR for someone to show up at the reception. They responded, and lied, saying that check in was 1430 (despite their bookingcom page saying 1400) AND they claimed I arrived at 1200.

In addition to that, unless you bring mosquitos repellent prepare to have a terrible night sleep being bitten constantly. The WiFi is atrocious - 1600 ping and 1mbps. Almost unusable. You have at best a 33% chance of the staff ever being at the reception. I was also not given the locker key on the first night! Their excuse was "somebody else had it" but the next day only one guy left that room and they gave out three keys to me and the other guests only after I asked for it. Just seems like they are lazy and don't care.

Terrible stay, and terrible customer service to lie on a review. Would never stay again, they don't care about you at all or providing a good service.

Also, just read how the staff respond to other negative reviews! Says everything you need to know about this place. Completely unprofessional and denying that their hostel is dirty, mosquito ridden, has bedbugs and unsympathetic staff. No ownership of their faults whatsoever.

Finally, if you do decide to go here just say you don't have cash if you don't want to pay in cash. They do have eftpos machines, even if the staff will initially lie about only...
