We booked a room at this hotel in Venice for the 2021 carnival almost a year in advance (in March 2020, just when the whole Covid 19 show started, and prices were dropping very much) through the Booking.com site. On Booking.com at this hotel, the score is 9.3. But this is only because all the people whom they deceive, since they did it with us, then cannot leave a review on the booking, since they could not get into the hotel. At that time, there were a lot of good hotels at about the same prices. Since we made the order during the Covid 19 period, we have booked a hotel with the possibility of cancellation and payment directly at the hotel upon arrival. After almost half a year, prices for the carnival period increased 3-4 times, including the prices in this hotel. A few days ago, I received a message from the Booking.com that the hotel checked my card and found that the card was not valid and that I had the option to enter the details of a valid card, which I did. A few minutes later, I received another message from the Booking.com that my booking was canceled by the hotel because the card was not valid. Immediately realizing the real reason for the cancellation, I decided to check how much the room costs now, but it turned out that there were no rooms at all for the entire period of the carnival. After contacting the Booking.com, at their request, I contacted my credit company and received a response from them, including a written official confirmation, which I sent to Booking.com and to the hotel, that this hotel requested information about my card and received a response that the card is valid and solvent. After long and numerous negotiations with the Booking.com and the hotel, I received an answer: from the hotel, that they cannot do anything and they have no places and from Booking.com, that they have nothing to do with it and do not bear any responsibility, cannot influence the hotel in any way and they cannot provide an appropriate hotel at the same price and on the same conditions. It's worth mentioning that our friends, just like us, have booked a room for the same dates in the same hotel, also through Booking.com. Our reservations are not connected in any way and we have different credit companies. The same thing happened with their booking. They also received a certificate from their credit company that they informed the hotel at their request that the card was in order. I highly recommend not contacting...
Read moreOverall our stay was very nice but overpriced for the property and room that we had. While our room was large (bedroom, separate living area, bathroom), there were no windows so it was very dark. The decor was nice. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. While we were ok, please note that the property had a lot of stairs and no elevator so it you have a hard time with stairs, and lugging large luggage up many flights of stairs, this is not a good spot for you. We had a lot of stairs up to our room in the attic and no one to help you. The hotel provided two bottles of water and Prosecco, plus coffee. No breakfast was included. ||I will note that the original property we were supposed to stay at (not this one, the “palace” property) got damaged by rain water leaking so our checkin took a bit longer than we would have liked…we went to the first property, couldn’t find it, had to call, then found out our room was not available, then checked in at a second property, then still had to go to a third property where our room was located. While the staff was very nice, it was a lot and took a lot of time out of our very short 2 night stay. They sent a WhatsApp that I did not receive until after checkin but did not email or call me that morning about the change in hotel locations. This new location was not as convenient to our tours and reservations as our original reservation, which was very close to the Rialto bridge. The pro for this location is that it’s a very short walk to the public water taxi boat San Samuele station to take you anywhere, train station, etc.||One thing we really liked was that the hotel will arrange a daily boat tour at 6 PM each day that goes all around the lagoon for an hour for 40 euros. It was a nice experience. I recommend the tour - you will see a lot more canals than a gondola ride.||It would be a good choice if the price were more reasonable, but not for...
Read moreThis was a disappointing experience. We stayed here for three nights for our honeymoon while we were in Venice. We enjoyed breakfast and the bathroom was nice and spacious. In addition, the staff were contactable and available and they did provide some guidance when we had questions. The location of the hotel was convenient. However, there were several factors which made our stay unpleasant. Firstly, the pictures we saw on the internet were inconsistent with our actual room - particularly the Liberty room, which did not look like the other rooms. It had a low ceiling, the aircon wasnt working properly on the first night, however this was resolved and the cleaning was not of a high quality. Perhaps the most difficult thing to come to terms with during our stay was the overpowering stench of the room, indicating that the windows or curtains had not been opened in a long time. As a result, we had to open the windows which made us highly susceptible to mosquito bites. As the room did not have any kind of mesh or fly screen to prevent mosquitos, we were faced with the predicament of either staying in a malodourous room or having mosquitos in our room. When we spoke to staff about this, they just encouraged us to open the windows. Whilst this B&B had some positives, unfortunately it was outweighed by the...
