Room: The rooms were very simple but had crucifixes on the walls which was a bit unconventional for non-Christians that were staying. The beds were creaky but was not a big issue. Good storage space and the room had a nice view. Service: Staff were friendly and were accommodating with any queries we had. Cleaning group were also really friendly. Food staff at breakfast were also very helpful! Location: Location was close to the city and the waterbus stations which was very convenient. Other: The rooms had mosquitos and the rooms mesh net had a hole so mosquitos kept coming in, I got bitten atleast 9 times and the rest of my family did aswell but it wasnt to blame as Venice is on the water, hence there'll be lots of mosquitoes. We couldnt go out between 12 and 6am which was quite inconvenient. Towels were only changed once every three days, but the amount was plentiful so it was alright. City tax was charged so before you go make sure to do research, it was also a bit weird how only cash was expected. The lifts were a bit complicated, they werent automatic. Overall: Nice area and hotel was okay, good price! Thank you to the service people!

This was a lovely little place to spend a few nights in Venice. Obviously at this price point one can't expect a luxury product, but Casa Caburlotto offers a comfortable experience in a hugely convenient location in the historic centre of Venice (the property is a ten-minute's walk from the central train station, which makes getting there with bags a very straightforward proposition—you can just walk rather than having to lug bags on a water taxi or vaporetto). I stayed in an economy single room with shared bathroom. There aren't many of these single rooms (most rooms have private bathrooms), so nobody was ever in the shared bathroom at any point when I wanted to use it. As with many religious guesthouses, a curfew applies from midnight to 6am, but I found it charming to have access to a small garden and a chapel for prayer. All in all, a pleasant experience at a rock-bottom price.

I've stayed here a couple of times, in November 2021 and again in 2023. It's just around the corner from the train station and the coach park, but far enough that it's not noisy. The exterior is anonymous but it has a reception desk. It's one of those places where you leave the keys with reception until you get back. There's a midnight curfew, and it's a converted monastery, but as the saying goes "when in Rome". The free breakfast is essentially coffee and a couple of rolls, but Venice has food. The two rooms I stayed in were both spartan, but the shower worked and there was solid wi-fi, which is basically all I need. And surprisingly no mosquitos, despite being on the water. Perhaps because I went in November. If you go outside and turn right you're a ten-minute walk to the canal, then a fifteen-minute stroll to Salute ("the pointy bit").

The room I initially was promised was changed to one without a bathroom (the bathroom is down the corridor). This came as a truly unwelcome surprise to me. I didn't see that in the confirmation email, which came after I had sent my credit card details, the hotel had switched my room to one without a bathroom. Because the price was the same as the room WITH the bathroom, I missed the mention further down in the email that the room had no ensuite bathroom. No where in that email was it flagged to me that the room had been changed. The word "change" wasn't mentioned - with such a massive change, this needed to be made very clear. I would never have stayed had I known. They knew that, probably, and so preferred to not draw my attention to that. When I arrived I was told, in an accusatory tone by one of the young female receptionists, that I had been reassigned to the room without a bathroom because of not responding to their last email quicker. She did promise to look into changing me to a room with a bathroom on the last of the 3-day stay. When I asked at reception on day 2 (now a different young woman) to confirm the move, she said her colleague hadn't passed on the message and that she had now sold that other room. Again, very unkindly, she reiterated that it was my fault for not responding to the earlier email about the original room quickly enough. I asked to be given the room I was promised for the 3rd night (one WITH a bathroom), to which she said I wouldn't get it, again in a punitive and infantilising tone. I did make it clear to her that it was absolutely the hotel's fault this time and not mine.|In light of this unfortunate series of exchanges, I have warned my colleagues not to stay here again, and will advise the organisers take this hotel off the list of places to stay at future events. It's ridiculous to be subjected to this kind of treatment. The prices are high in comparison to the very basic utilities (small single beds, no TV, minute pieces of soap), but then again, it's Venice which will always draw tourists. The view is lovely, and the nuns serving breakfast are very kind. The reception is disappointing, and the sneaky change of room, and failure to move me when the option was there, doubly...

We didn’t think our stay would come with so many restrictions. I was traveling with my 2 daughters and I wish I had read more reviews on this hotel before booking. ||We knew of the curfew from 12am-6am and we had no problem with it. We were made aware multiple times about this rule. The rest, we were not made aware of. A breakfast “buffet” should not come with restrictions. The breakfast options are VERY limited. One of my daughters is vegan and there was nothing for her to eat, not even a single piece of fruit. I was given a warning by one of the nuns not to take a second cup of coffee and that it is one coffee per person. How ridiculous is that? My other daughter doesn’t drink coffee and they still wanted to give me a warning. I was so embarrassed and that ruined the rest of the trip for me. I am a catholic person, but they made me feel like I am sinning every time I ate. The nuns are always watching you even when you think they are not. They make you feel like you’re a horrible person for taking 2 pieces of bread instead of one. The coffee cups are so small you are practically getting one or two sips of coffee and they don’t let you get any more. In the meantime, on our last morning, we saw one of the sisters making herself a cup of coffee in a cup that is 3 times bigger than the ones they give to guests. ||The room conditions are not great either. The walls are peeling and falling apart and the room is filled with mosquitos. They have a mosquito repellent in the room that does not work at all. After our daily hunt for mosquitos in the room, we would still wake up with multiple new bites each. By the end of our 5 night stay, we were covered from head to toe in mosquito bites. ||Remember to bring your own soap and shampoo as well because the amount they give you is only enough to cover one arm. They give you the smallest amount of soap and expect you to use that for 3 days before giving you a new one. ||The reception staff was great and very kind and friendly but that was the only positive I can give...

A very convenient and quiet location close to the train station and the bus terminus in Piazzale Roma, and also some restaurants, bars and coffee places. I was lucky to find a room with a private ensuite, and considering the high prices in Venice this was quite reasonable. The place was very clean, with clean linen and towels. The garden is amazing and I enjoyed reading there early morning, very calm and serene. Unfortunately the bed and pillow were not comfortable, and the breakfast was very poor with minimal choice, very small portions offered by the nuns (and I'm not particularly after big portions, so that's saying a lot!) and horrible cappuccino. I ended up skipping my paid breakfast after the first day. I don't suggest it to anyone, instead there's an excellent bakery just round the corner (Majer Bakery). On the last night I needed to leave the place early (slightly before curfew - 6am) due to my early flight, and I had to pay an extra EUR20. Although I knew about this beforehand it was only 20 mins before 6am, and the receptionist told me that they need to call in someone specifically to come and open for me. Technically the guy was just sleeping in a room next to reception and came to open for me (still half asleep) 5 mins late - I guess I could have simply opened the main door myself! On that day I missed the paid breakfast and nothing was offered instead (not that I wanted it considering its poor standard). They originally said that they will offer a packed breakfast, but because I didn't remind them about it, no one remembered! There was also some plumbing problem in my room's bathroom, with water seeping in through the tiles every time the upper/nearby showers were being used. I understand that such things can happen. On the first night I had to wipe out water at night, and after asking about it for the second time I was given extra bath mats to leave on the floor. However, considering this issue I think it was only reasonable to be compensated for such inconvenience by not paying the...
