Cute, recently opened boutique-style hotel. Perfectly located for tourists who don’t want to drag their luggage through the labyrinth like streets of Venice and who don’t want to drop a lot of money on pricey water taxis.
Highly recommend taking the ATVO bus from the airport and it drops you off in the parking lot directly in front of the hotel. It couldn’t be more convenient.
The hotel is rather unassuming from the exterior but quite charming inside. The staff is friendly and helpful, though positioned almost awkwardly close to the entrance serving as both reception and security—which isn’t terrible, to deter would-be thieves.
We were put in the second largest room type, which was very nice. It was decorated in a contemporary way, with natural elements in the form of wood floors, wood floor-to-ceiling headboard, and nice stone tiles in the bathroom. It had a small seating area with marble end table. The room was great. I suspect the standard room sizes are far more cramped feeling and wouldn’t be large enough for a seating area.
As a Marriott Gold member, there was really nothing remarkable or special to appreciate. No lounge, breakfast was not included, and I don’t think our room (though nice!) was an upgrade so much as what was available when we checked in as we did arrive early.
Also notably lacking was gym facilities which we couldn’t find. And the in-Room coffee was not the typical Nespresso style espresso pods I’ve come to love in Europe, but just powered coffee and a water boiler.
One area to take advantage of is the cute outdoor courtyard. We picked up a bottle of local Prosecco and snacks to enjoy at the hotel. We sat in the courtyard and the bartender was kind enough to bring us champagne flutes to ensure we had a good experience.
Of note for hotel staff: on two occasions we went to our room and found the door had not been pulled shut by housekeeping. Additionally, lack of attention to detail by housekeeping who never replenished our coffee supplies or disposable cups, nor did they clean or refresh our glasses.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and if we were in Venice again, we would consider AC Hotel Venezia for a...
Read moreI cannot for the life of me understand all these positive reviews. What a disappointment, and an expensive one at that. I’m a Marriott titanium member which means I spend over 2.5 months worth of my year in Marriott hotels. I also hold mid to high level loyalty on three other brands and this hotel is perhaps the most undeservedly pretentious property I’ve stayed at. First of all, Marriott elite members- don’t expect anything special. This is the first Marriott hotel I’ve ever stayed in that neither has a club lounge nor offers free breakfast or at the very least a voucher to fully cover a continental breakfast. Nope, for 280+ euro a night you’ll get a 10 euro food and drink credit. Breakfast was awful so just take the points and get better food for 3 euro in town. After explaining this, the very stuck up and rude front desk lady offered to help us with any reservations we might want to make. We gratefully asked for her help in getting us cabs to the airport. We told her we’d like to leave at 8:30 am. Her response was “well we have a taxi already coming for someone else at 8:30”. … … … I asked her what the issue was and she said it could be a problem for their cab company to send multiple cabs. She suggested we take a cab at 9 for an 11 am which would not give us enough time after she herself said we should be at the airport 2 hours before the flight. we were sick and too exhausted from travel to argue so agreed for an 8 am taxi. (With all the confusion we were a few minutes late for it the next morning, but not their fault). Room was dingy and depressing. Fingerprint smudges on mirrors and shower door. Dirty and scuffed walls. Stains on sheets (photo below) 18 euro Breakfast was inedible. Rotten fruit, tomatoes were mushy, bread was sawdust. Just go elsewhere. While only Zlata at the front desk was exceptionally rude to us, most other desk employees never acknowledged us coming or going. 4th and final hotel in Italy - most expensive and all of the other three had exemplary service, were clean, and did not serve rotten food. Bartender was quite friendly so...
Read moreDo not come here expecting any service or anything working in your room. We have three rooms, there are seven of us. Only one of the rooms safe works. There is no air conditioning due to a new law that disallows use until the temperature reaches 77 F and you cannot cool your room down below 77 F, they will not tell you this. There are no fans at all. One of the rooms window opens 2 inches and it's sweltering. In two of our rooms the window opens but onto a busy construction site which is also on a public walkway so good luck trying to get sleep, you'll be awake by 5am every day due to the noise or keep your window closed and you'll swest all night. We are Ambassador level and our only benefit/upgrade was that we could get ten dollars off in their bar. Our room, we are the marriot members, is right in front of the elevator so very noisy. Breakfast is eighteen euro per person even for Ambassador level. They have one cart only for luggage and parking is thirty euros per day. Maid service does not include refilling the coffee supplies and you must request it. The rooms are tiny and two people cannot pass each other anywhere in the room. The hair conditioner was not refilled in our room not that we use it but I'm sure other guests do. The kleenex had three, three... Tissues in it. This hotel is 30 minutes away from Saint Mark's Square so you'll be walking a ways to get to the main attractions. Of course, as usually, we received no upgrade at our status which is apparently something Marriott could care a less about no matter how loyal you are to their brand or how far in advance you book........and this is the low season. If you need a bed to sleep in and zero expectations of nothing more then this is your place. Yet another ridiculously disappointing...
