My husband and I had a lovely time at Locanda Leon Bianco in March. We had the room pictured in the ad, Junior Suite with Gran Canal View, and it was just perfect! The windows on the front and on the side open to allow stunning views of the canal. The staff was friendly and helped us book a tour. They suggested restaurants and offered to make reservations for us. They have a private dock and provide water taxi transfer from the train for a fee. From the day we booked, they were very helpful communicating directions and useful tips for enjoying our time in Venice.||There are only a few rooms, and the breakfast area can only seat about ten people, so breakfast is provided during a time slot you select. We were the only ones there during our time slot besides the cook who will prepare a few different items made to order, in addition to the buffet which included mason jars of fruit cocktail, yogurts, cereals, assorted breads and danish, and a different cake of the day each day. It was very nice.||We did not use the private water taxi. Instead, we followed the directions graciously provided for public transportation. The dock for the public water taxi is only a few short blocks away. It was easy travel for us even though we are both in our 60s. The hotel itself is really hard to find. We were right there, but there is a long narrow alley leading to the hotel. We kept turning around and going back, thinking we were lost. Even the shopkeepers right next door did not know where the hotel was actually located. When we did find the entrance, we were faced with two long flights of stairs. The man who buzzed us in kindly came down and ran our bags up the steps for us. The stairs can be a challenge epecially for senior folks.||Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend Locanda Leon Bianco to others. Our room was delightful, breakfast was delicious, and the staff was helpful. Good...
Read moreWe had an incredible three day stay in Venice and I can honestly say that the most lasting memories will be of our stay at the Locanda Leon Biance. We were fortunate to book the “apartment” which I would describe as more of a suite, with its incredible view and location on the Grand Canal. It was incredibly spacious for our family of three, with a full kitchen, a living/dining area, and two rooms for sleeping (separated by curtains). It felt both historical and modern at the same time. But the true highlight was the view. We could sit there for hours sipping wine (or maybe coffee in the morning) and watching the boat traffic on the canal. It was especially enchanting in the evening. It was also spectacular being dropped off and picked up right from our private dock. ||The location was also perfect, close to everything but hidden from the masses, just off a main thoroughfare down a short narrow alleyway. Plenty of restaurants, an ATM and a supermarket within a few minutes walk. Five minutes to the Rialto Bridge and ten minutes to St. Marks Square. A little further to the train station.||The staff were super helpful in recommending (and booking) restaurants away from the throngs of tourists and for arranging a gondola ride (and providing us Prosecco for it). They also arranged our transportation from the airport and to the train station. The breakfasts were basic but delicious every morning. ||I cannot speak to the other rooms as clearly we were lucky to be in the largest and best one (but I believe the junior suite just above it is quite similar if a little smaller). I was a little concerned the hotel is rated as just a 2. I have stayed at 4 properties that aren’t nearly as nice.||If you have a chance to stay at the Locanda Leon Bianco, particularly if you can book the apartment, I can guarantee you will not regret it. What an incredible place. Thanks...
Read moreI can't begin to describe how outstanding our stay here was. Our friend at the front desk named Enrico made sure we had everything we needed. He arranged a private taxi ride to and from the airport straight to the front door. He gave us all his recommendations and offered to make dinner reservations and a grand canal tour. He was so warm and welcoming. He made us feel like we were in good hands in a country so far away from home. The hotel was the prefect location! It was in the middle of all the good eats and not too far away from all the main attractions. I liked being away from San Marco's hustle and bustle. There was so much to see in the area and it was so convenient to be able to drop into our hotel whenever we needed to. There was a security to get in the front. It was very secure. It felt like home. Our room was absolutely beautiful! We had a canal view from our bed! It was so dreamy! There was a separate sitting room and toilet room. The shower had a nice waterfall head and there was even a soaking tub. It was the perfect stay! One we'll never forget! If we ever come back to Venice, this is where...
