Me and my friend visited this nice restaurant in Venice for aperitivo. In general the practice I experienced so far in Italy (traveling there since 2011) is that when you have aperitivo hours, snack food is included in your receipt. Well not this time... it was strange for me. Not sure if in this case it should be clearly stated. For example, not us or the table near us had a set menu with prices. Our neighbours were told that there was no one. That would be fair in this case to have a set menu. Then next unclear point on the receipt was our drinks. We ordered 4 franciacorta and we understand that this is more expensive than other drinks. In the menu the price for this was 8, but it was counted as a total of 42 for those 4 glasses. The waitress told us it was 10.5 euro for a glass. It is totally fine, but what disappointed me is that in the receipt it was stated that we had 6 glasses each of 7. Well it gives 42, but we had 4 glasses and the waitress told us the same. She said before we paid ‘you had 4 glasses, right?’ It was in line with my expectation, since you usually only pay for drinks at aperitivo. Since I look at the receipts later in general, I read it only when I was far from the place. I like when good cuisine and drinks come with clear financial records.
P.S. The restaurant returned me 10 euro...
Read moreWe’ve been in Italy (all over) for 3 weeks now and this is arguably in our top 3 favorites meals of the trip, if not of all time. The food was phenomenal. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so romantic and charming. Everything was great. We did try to order cocktails and the bartender was not there that night so we weren’t able to order any but we settled for a bottle of red wine instead which was good. There was not live music playing, either but again, totally fine. My partner ordered the octopus for an appetizer and then a duck roast entree. She said it was the best duck she’s ever had in her life explaining the consistency, texture, and flavor as being fantastic. I am more of a picky eater but tried duck for the first time here and I actually enjoyed it. For my entree, I ordered the tagliatelle beef truffle pasta and wow. It was out of this world. The flavor achieved without it being too salty or too oily was amazing. We genuinely enjoyed our meals. For dessert, we ordered a flan with chocolate ice cream and that didn’t last long at all. This restaurant is away from the tourist traps tucked inside a quieter street amongst the canal. Highly recommend! You must...
Read moreThis was my favorite dining experience while in Venice. The entrance to it faces the canal, so you have to just meander through a few calles to try to find this place, but I'm glad I did! I was recently in town for Carnevale, and before I left the states, I made a reservation in advance online, which was easy to do. I arrived to the restaurant before my friend did, so in my broken Italian I let them know I had a reservation for 2. I was seated beside the fireplace in this charming old-world establishment. We ordered a bottle of local wine, and without the sulfites of red wines I am used to, my friend and I easily polished off the bottle and also had a few more drinks on top of this with no ill effects the next day :)
I loved that the menu includes a detailed listing of the ingredients and any potential allergens. I had the pumpkin gnocchi and it was just delicious.
I noticed that more locals started coming in around 8-9pm, but when I arrived at 7 for the reservation, I think there was only one table of people. So I highly recommend this place for great service, lovely food, and be sure to go with...
