Be warned: we received BED BUGS here and it ruined our vacation. AC A friend and I stayed there in October of this year. When we entered the room it was HOT. We turned on the AC. Hot air came out so we called the front desk. They informed us the AC is disabled for winter months. Not thrilled with this since AC is advertised online with no mention of it only being for certain times of the year. With the AC not working, we went to the windows. Mosquitoes Three windows in the room, one of which says "mosquito net". We didn't see any other signs and the front desk hadn't mentioned anything so we opened all three windows. We were then overwhelmed with mosquitoes. Not good. Hotel later said we shouldn't have opened the windows which makes sense now. I do wonder if the windows aren't supposed to be opened, why are they openable in the first place? Anyhow, if there's signs on the other windows as they claim, we can take responsibility for the mosquito situation. Due to the closed windows and no AC, we struggled to sleep due to the heat. Note, a fan was provided our last night. This was appreciated, although would have been better to have all 3 nights we stayed. BED BUGS - NIGHTMARE We woke up the first morning covered in bites. Mine were AWFUL. It looked somewhere between chicken pox and someone who just went through puberty having an awful breakout, except that it was head to toe. I didn't want to go outside. I didn't want any photos the rest of our trip. Without having much experience with mosquitoes (or bed bugs for that matter) we thought they were mosquito bites. After multiple hotel staff indicating the bites weren't from mosquitoes, we decided to get them checked out by a doctor. Unfortunately this wasn't until after we left Venice due to us thinking it was mosquitoes the whole time and we didn't have time in Venice as we had a flight to catch. Dealing with hotel after the fact - FURTHER NIGHTMARE Hotel informed us we'd receive a full refund with documentation that it was indeed bed bugs. Documentation has been provided and they now changed their mind and refuse to give us a refund as they deny it's bed bugs. First Aid in Venice said bed bugs. Nurse at hospital in Venice said bed bugs. Barcelona nurse said bed bugs. Barcelona doctor said bed bugs. We've consulted doctors that we know personally and they've confirmed bed bugs. Hotel still denies it and denies a refund. They are rude and insulting in their emails. Hotel itself is nice. Staff were nice (while there). Good location. Breakfast was ok - I liked the pancakes and eggs. Getting bed bugs and ruining your vacation - dreadful. Dealing with the hotel when something went wrong - also dreadful. I would advise you steer clear of this hotel.

I was glad we booked this hotel. This hotel checks off all the requirements when booking a hotel in Venice: 1. Location. I travel with a baby, so 3 luggage s & a baby stroller. My biggest concern was crossing the bridges in Venice. So, my number one requirement was a hotel must be close to a pier or a dock. This hotel is located just a minute walk from the Giglio dock and doesn't have to cross any bridge. So, getting from the water taxi to the hotel was a breeze. 2. Price. Most hotels that have access to a dock or pier are very expensive in Venice. This hotel is not water front, which makes it much more affordable. We paid €420 for a deluxe double room, which has a double bed and a sofa that can be pulled out as a bed. 3. Hospitality. The staff were amazing. We got to the hotel early at 12pm, but the check-in hour is 3pm. The staff was able to let us in our room early, which was great because we were really tired. The surprise is they even have champagne for us, a basket of fruits. And breakfast was also included, which I had no idea of when booking. 4. Friendliness. The front desk/receptionists were friendly and extremely helpful. They helped us booked our water taxi from the hotel to the airport, and the price was just as cheap as if I book online. 5. Cleanliness. The hotel is on the newer comparing to other hotels in Venice. Even though the entire Venice is so compact and old, but this hotel doing a great job of keeping it clean and up to date. The room is the largest when comparing to other hotel rooms that I stayed during this Italy trip (for the same price, much bigger comparing to rooms in Rome and Florence). The room, especially the bathroom, is really clean, spotless. 6. Extra. The room comes with a kitchen, bowls, plates, and utensils. They also have a 110V outlet in the bathroom for American tourists, which I love so much because we have a portable water boiler that only take 110V. 7. View. The room has a nice view of the square, which has nice air breeze. It was nice to open the window and watch people walking in the square. Overall, we enjoy our stay at this hotel the most during our Italy trip (we stayed in Rome and Florence before Venice). I would definitely recommend this hotel for all family and friend. So many good things to stay about this hotel.

I highly recommend this hotel, it is less than 10 minutes to St. Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. Staff are helpful and accommodating. We also enjoyed having the breakfast brought to us every morning, very convenient. Staying here felt like living the venetian way, you have your living room, dining and kitchen with it’s ancient venetian design. It is old but well maintained, the room is clean. The bathroom is clean and modern. If you want to feel authentic venetian charm and living, definitely stay in this 4 star hotel.

I visited Venice with my wife and 2 boys - 14 and 7 yrs in July. I must say our experience has been fabulous. First of all, a huge shout out to the hotel staff. They are really AMAZING!! They made sure we had a fantastic experience. ||First of all, I had requested an early checkin since my flight from the US was supposed to land around 10:30 am local time and we wanted to freshen up and have a quick nap before exploring Venice. The hotel staff (special mention to Chiara) accommodated my request and our room was ready at around 12:30 pm. ||The hotel is a little dated and small but then very well kept. However, it is located in a very safe and central location. All the key attractions like - Basilica, San Marco square, Doges palace etc. are around 8-10 minutes walk. Very comfortable for first time visitors. Rialto bridge is around 15-20 minutes walk. All the stores like - Gucci, Prada, LV etc. are hardly 5 - 7 minutes walk from here. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby as well.||If you are using private water taxi, public (Alilaguna) or shared taxi from the airport then it will drop you right at S. Maria del Giglio Vaporetto stop. It is hardly 2 minutes walk to the hotel from this stop and so is very convenient if you have luggage and kids. It also serves as a perfect stop for you if you would like to visit any other areas like - Rialto bridge etc. by water taxi or would like to go to the train station and take trains to Florence etc. |We were greeted with a bottle of wine, some snacks and juice when we entered the room. The hotel also has an excellent complimentary breakfast. You need to select your options the day before and hand it over to the front desk. The rooms are spacious ( I had booked a junior suite). There is a bed room and it has 2 single beds and the living room has 2 sofas that turn into a bed and also a dining table to have your breakfast. There is a very small kitchen| with a small fridge just in case you would want to prepare some hot water, tea/coffee etc.||All in all, we had an amazing time here and would love to come back to this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for first time visitors, especially families...
