With only one night in Verona we were looking for a place to stay fairly central to the city centre, reasonably priced and accommodate family of four adults. Searching on line for a B&B, with character, we came across this one. Right from our first communication with Lodovica she was friendly and very helpful. Over the 4 months prior to arriving, Lodovica kept in contact, even sending a message to advise of the Opera Carmen that was to be staged at the arena that night, also offering to pre-purchase the tickets on our behalf. We did end up attending the performance, but decided to choose the upgraded seating (not the stone area), so booked direct. An absolutely amazing 4 hours, midnight after the show, it was so nice to just walk around the corner to the B&B past the long line in the Taxi queue.||Had a large, bright room with air-con, queen bed, single plus comfy foldaway, still good space to move about. Plus a nice ensuite (2 steps up), complete with hairdryer and toiletries. Nice to look out the window and see the arena.||Free wi-fi was much appreciated, and a delightful spread awaited us in the sunny breakfast room. Clean and fresh feeling with an absolutely charming and...
Read moreOur room here tied with one other for my favorite places to stay during our recent visit to southern Germany and northern Italy. Lodovica has taken a lot of care in creating clean, elegant and charming rooms for guests in her very old family home. While the setting is historic -- original frescoes still remain in rooms, and you can see the famed downtown Arena from some of the windows -- the bathroom and bed were modern and very comfortable. In addition to your spacious room there are a shared living space with tea and biscuits, a traveler's library, and a breakfast spot. Lodovica doesn't hesitate when asked for recommendations -- her family has been here for many generations -- and she kindly arranged not only for opera tickets but also for a program and cushions for sitting in the coliseum during the performance. Breakfast is continental, with local pastry specialities. We walked from the train station, about 15-20 minutes, and took a taxi to the airport, 28 euro. Some other reviewers have commented on the street noise and I agree. It didn't bother us since we're used to city sounds, but those who are light-sleepers might need earplugs. Would definitely return again if we...

The host Lodavica was very helpful both before and during our stay. ||||The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had all you need with good shower pressure although I don't think they had a very big water tank as the hot water ran out fairly quickly! Also be careful when drying your hair as the power cut out both times. Breakfast was okay, nothing to write home about and it would have been nice if the towels were changed. There was free wifi (ask for a password) and fridge to keep your drinks cool (you are given two bottles of water each day). ||||Lots of guidebooks are available when you are there.||||I've given this a 4 only because it does not seem to...
