The quality was top notch for a 3* hotel. We stayed in a 4* hotel in Firenze before arriving in Verona, which was nowhere near as good as this one. The service was good (particularly the cleaning was done excellently and efficiently), the breakfast buffet offered a wide range of options for me and my girlfriend (vegetarian). The only thing I could have wished for is a proper coffee machine in the room (not just instant coffee/tea and a kettle) and maybe some complementary water bottles on arrival. But that's just a minor thing. Also, there was some renovation work going on during the day, and it did get very loud and noisy in the rooms. We weren't informed about that upon arrival by the reception staff at the front desk, which they really ought to have mentioned. Maybe the lady just forgot about it. But the works finished before the evening started, and apart from that the rooms were well quiet. We stayed in the economy room and that was large enough even for a couple staying for a few nights, but we only had small suitcases. If you have a larger one and intend to stay more than just a few nights, it's probably best to upgrade the room to the next bigger option.
I don't know what the star rating system for hotels in Italy is, but if the one in Firenze is a 4* hotel, this one should be, too.
On Google maps it says this is low-key lodging. Please ask for that to be removed, you really are not low-key, we had a wonderful stay with you,...
Read moreHotel Giulietta e Romeo is only steps away from the arena and Piazza Bra in Verona. Despite being in such a prime location, I never felt like I was in a "tourist trap."
My room was very comfortably sized for two people and had a wonderful big bathtub. The welcoming packages that they offer are thoughtful, romantic surprises that are perfect for couples. My boyfriend surprised me with rose petals on the bed, a bottle of rosé, and a snack platter that were offered by the hotel, which were all the more special after a long travel day.
The staff are very personable and helped us out with every question or request we had. When we wanted to book a table at a popular restaurant, they kindly called the restaurant for us and handled the reservation. After spilling food on one of my shirts, they laundered it for me and had it ready to go before I checked out, saving me a lot of worry. They also have detailed maps with illustrations of popular sites in the city, and always have great recommendations for spots to grab aperitifs.
I told the front desk staff this before we left, but I want to reiterate it for any potential guest to see: if I'm ever lucky enough to travel to the beautiful city of Verona again, this is the only place I will...
Read moreI am very happy that we booked this beautiful location with the arena just a close walk from the hotel (visible in the street), but will also never book it again.
The hotel being in an amazing location, is also easily reachable by the public. Upon arrival we were told there was a policy of leaving our room keys with reception as we left the hotel. We did this and upon returning there was a different person at reception who had never seen us before. I could see my room keys hanging within sight, asked for them and was given them with no ID checks. After that, we took our keys with us and the staff were very unfriendly about it. The female at reception most days was also very judgemental, although some staff were nice.
The breakfast buffet had a good selection of sweet food, but only 1 small tray of hot food and it wasnât replaced any time during our breakfasts. I imagine they do though.
My wife had to clean the bathroom again before using it as it was not cleaned well, but otherwise the room we had was spacious, the queen bed a good size and I loved the blackout blinds!
But it was a great location and a beautiful hotel, I just couldnât go through that level of security risk and...
