This family-operated guesthouse has clearly established itself as a preferred accommodation for Mount Fuji travelers through careful attention to cleanliness, comfort, and guest experience. The property’s strategic location offers potential Mount Fuji views from second-floor windows during clear weather, providing budget travelers with access to the iconic scenery that typically requires expensive hotel rooms.
I stayed in the mixed dormitory, which despite accommodating a significant number of guests, felt surprisingly spacious and well-organized. The room layout maximized both privacy and efficiency, avoiding the cramped feeling common in budget accommodations. The rooftop facilities add unexpected value with recreational options including a trampoline and bar-style seating area that encourages social interaction among international travelers.
The bathroom and washing facilities impressed with their cleanliness and modern maintenance, rivaling those found in much more expensive accommodations. This attention to hygiene details demonstrates the family’s commitment to guest comfort and creates confidence in the property’s overall management standards.
The first-floor common area functions as a genuine community space with complimentary snacks, various board games, and comfortable seating that facilitates natural interactions between guests from different countries and backgrounds. This thoughtful provision of entertainment and refreshments enhances the social aspect that makes guesthouse stays memorable.
One of the most valuable amenities is the free bicycle rental program, providing guests with easy transportation for local exploration without additional cost. While some bicycles need brake maintenance attention, the variety available ensures finding a suitable option, and the freedom to explore the area independently adds significant value to the stay.
The parking situation requires an additional 500 yen daily fee, which remains reasonable given the location and convenience. The overall atmosphere maintains appropriate quiet levels for rest while accommodating the natural social aspects of shared accommodation.
The streamlined checkout process requires no specific procedures, allowing guests to simply leave when ready without complicated departure requirements. This efficiency respects travelers’ time and eliminates unnecessary stress from what should be a straightforward process.
For budget-conscious travelers seeking clean, comfortable accommodation with thoughtful amenities and genuine hospitality, Fuji Guest Ao delivers exceptional value that exceeds expectations for its...
Read moreMy wife and stayed here for two nights in twin room 1, overlooking Mount Fuji. We arrived on the 23/10/2019 and left on the 25/10/2019. For the price and location, this is a great place to stay at. It is about 7 minute walk from the bus station. |It is close to restaurants and a short walk to the 20km Lake. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are way to soft which can cause a bit of neck strain. The facilities are clean and the shared toilets were near our room which made it convenient. There are two toilets on the second flloor (one is a urinal) and two toilets down stairs. There are also two shared showers. This was never an issue for us as there was only about 10 guests staying here. This place can hold up to 20 or so guests which may cause a line to use the shower and toilets.|We had a clear view of Mount Fuji from our balcony, it was a sunny day when we arrived. I do recommend you check out the terrace as the view is awesone on a clear day.|The kitchen has cooking facilities, microwave and a big fridge. The main sitting area is near reception. They have free bike hire which is really good, considering some places in town will charge a 1000 yen.|It was raining heavily on the day we were leaving and the Manager offered to drive us to the bus station which was very nice of him. He also allowed us to check in early when we arrived and was extremely helpful in providing useful information on things to do. Customer service was amazing and I would have rated my stay as excellent if the pillows were more comfortable. Very good is still...
Read moreAccommodation at Kawaguchiko is not cheap. Likewise here. The cost for bunk bed is higher than premium capsule rooms with more amenities elsewhere. You are paying for the view of Fuji san here provided you are lucky to see it on a clear day. Basic toiletries, coffee and tea are provided. I do hope the owners would consider providing a simple face wash.
I stayed in the mixed dormitory. Someone snored very loudly on the first night. My ear plugs could not block it out completely. On the second night, next bunk guest made a lot of noise with the metal/wood hangers in the early morning. Would be better if the hangers were made of rubber or lined with rubber. I will only consider female dormitory (less risks of loud snorers) or premium capsule after this experience. The guesthouse is located about 700 metres walk from Kawaguchiko station. You can leave your luggage after check out but if you think it's going to rain, better to leave it at the lockers at the station. Tip: Pusan bicycle and kimono rental shops offer cheaper lockers than the station ones.
If you are a foodie, I would recommend you try Hotokura Funari (spicy udon and horse meat sashimi) and La Luce (the restaurant's 5 dishes) and only do lunch at Engawa1441 because dinner is...
