Loved staying here!! We were in a room overlooking Lake Kawaguchiko, and the room was quite large, with several amenities, including a soaking tub. It was good for a family, though I do wish there was at least a separation screen between the sitting area by the deck and the main room for 2 reasons--1. To provide a bit more privacy between members you're rooming with and 2. Because the shades still let in quite a bit of light in the morning. The other gripe I had was that the sink was in a separate room from the toilet, across the hall, so if somebody was using the bathroom (with the sink) to change clothes, somebody just coming out of the toilet would have to wait to wash their hands.
The service was excellent! The front desk staff helped us book a restaurant, as well as the taxi cab to get there. And they allowed us to store our suitcases a little longer after checkout so that we could grab some breakfast/lunch before heading back to the station in their provided shuttle bus. They spoke English as well, which made it easy to communicate. Service wise, although we did have towels service, I do wish they provided more than 1 set of towels a day--though maybe they would if we just asked, not sure. The robes, socks, and hairbrush were very convenient as well.
Now, onto the main draw--the onsens. There's a surcharge to use them, but I think they are well worth it. There were 2 public baths, one in the basement and one on the 7th floor. Both floors split the baths by sex, and they also had showers that you use before bathing (including shampoo/conditioner/body wash) and a changing area with some skincare products. The basement bath was laid out nicely with a bit more space to bring in your towel, as well as a sauna and cool water pool. It had an outdoor bath as well, which seemed to run down from the gorgeous garden. The top floor baths also had an indoor hot pool and a small outdoor pool overlooking Lake Kawaguchi, which was pretty at night. On the other side of the hallway was a sitting room and deck looking out to Mount Fuji, so even if you didn't book a fuji-facing room, you could still view it from inside the hotel. The 7th floor also had the private baths which could be booked by the hour for an additional surcharge.
The location was very convenient. Right next door was a bike rental shop, and in front of the hotel was a motorboat rental to explore the lake and areas around. There were also cafes and shops within walking distance of the hotel as well, but I'd check the hours because a lot of places around the resorts open late and/or close early.
All in all, this was a great way to recover before the last leg of our trip. I'd definitely recommend...
Read moreWe would easily return to this place!||||They have a courtesy bus to and from Kawaguchiko station and upon arrival, they had our name written down on a plaque awaiting us :)||||Receptionists were ever friendly and the welcome drink was a nice touch. ||||We stayed here for our ten year wedding anniversary and we upgraded our dinner package and room. Without doubt, it was worth every dollar spent! The room is massive for Japanese standards with separates rooms for the toilet, shower and storage cupboard. We opted to sleep on tatami mats for the Japanese experience and it was great. ||||The dinner wasn’t served in our room although our confirmation booking said it was, so we were a little disappointed. However, the hotel well and truely made up for it by giving us a private room in the function room, and by the amount of high quality food that was served. Several courses of Japanese delights like tuna and salmon sushi, abalone in a light salad dressing, crab meat seafood soup and many many more. Just as we thought no more food was coming out, more food came several times!! Breakfast was unbelievable with a beautiful range traditional Japanese meals. They also added bacon and eggs as the western option!||||The hotel has two different onsen areas, both with multiple onsens. The onsen on level 7 has sweeping views of Lake Kawaguchiko with mountains in the background, such a beautiful view. It also has a viewing area of Mount Fuji. Tip, go here before 8am for a great view of Mount Fuji, also the public onsen is likely to have no one else there!||||I would suggest hiring a bike and bike ride around Lake Kawaguchiko in an anti-clockwise direction, this way you get a view of Mt Fuji in front of you whilst bike riding. Also, if you go up the Mt Fuji Panoramic ropeway, go before 9.30am, otherwise there will be a massive queue to go up.||||I would also suggest to book via Japanican as this website allows you to chose from various rooms, and various dinner options and describes the dinner option. Whilst Agoda and Booking.com does not in terms of dinner options. They just say dinner included with no...
