A nice cosy environment for tourists and the likes. Although their food was pretty okay and their dessert was nice, I was very disappointed by the one hour+ wait I had to endure for my order to be served.
During the time I was waiting there, the sole staff at the front of the house looks to be very overwhelmed rushing from tables to table, to the point that there were many tables that had uncleared plates etc all piling up.
I was disappointed by the wait as my party originally thought that our order would be served at a reasonable waiting time e.g 15~20 minutes, but the one hour+ long wait that my table and other tables had to endure just for our nabe sets to be fired up was just a tad too long, till we had to rush our consumption of our lunch as we had to rush off to meet our fixed schedule for buses/trains going off towards other areas for us to visit.
I honestly felt sorry for the staff, but I was wondering if it was a one-off incident. If not, hopefully Cafe Mono's management can look into hiring more help to manage the floor, especially when the busy tourist visit seasons kick in
(...and yes...we actually went in at a pretty okay time that was outside of the usual F&B crunch hours, which was what added to the surprise to us for the 1 hour+ wait for what's supposed to be their standard...
Read moreGreat restaurant with a unique focus on both shabu shabu and pasta.
Food: we ordered 3 types of pasta dishes: the porcini mushroom and cream, bolognese and carbonara for about 1650 yen each. Each dish comes with a mini quartet of salads, which were all unique and refreshing. Pastas were good - cooked al dente and were all flavourful without being too rich. Each dish comes with your choice of a beverage as well.
Service: staff were attentive and some spoke English to a degree. Food came out at a reasonable pace.
One slight issue for those with accessibility issues is that many tables are where you sit cross-legged on the ground. There are still a few tables with the traditional table and chair set up, so it’s best to arrive early or outside...
Read moreExcellent spot. Honestly this is the kind of place and menu that makes me suspicious — it’s in an area where every restaurant was closed, so I felt like a captive audience ready to be forced into some mid food. And the menu has both shabu shabu and pasta — I was like, “How can they do both?” And the restaurant is a lounge which makes me feel like they focus on drinks. But no!! The food was just awesome. They pulled it off! I really loved my pasta bolognese, and it came with a refreshing array of appetizer salads. I feel like the prices were highway robbery from my perspective too — you guys could charge a little more, you deserve it!! I would certainly come back if I visit...
