Yakiniku Kakura (Hakata) in Fukuoka is a beef restaurant. Situated along the main street on 2nd level, it's not difficult to find.
Restaurant is neat and clean, bright lights coming through the window if it's day time.
If was lunch time, so we ordered the sets. A 3-type beef set and a kimchi tofu soup set. All these came with rice, sides and a dessert set!
The beef was heavenly (depending how you grill it). The fats and marbling was perfect. The fragrance and flavours was surely a big winner. For more beef effects, order the slightly pricier ones.
The kimchi tofu soup was alright, good as a supplement to the beef. After all the grilling, we top it up with free sweets of mochi ice cream and free coffee.
Service was good, young friendly staff with one of the gentlemen speaking some English.
Price levels fits these lunch sets as we felt was reasonable. Quality of beef cuts were up to scratch. For that price, it's good for two persons, it was a pretty good feed.
Definitely a place to try if you are enthusiastic about beef. Me...
Read moreIt was our first time at Yakiniku Kakura, and to be honest, we came in with a bit of hesitation. I had read a lot of mixed reviews online—some praising the quality, others calling it a tourist trap—so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But in the end, curiosity won.
We decided to keep it simple and went with the set for two people, so we can different the different cuts. Some of the beef cuts were definitely on the fattier side—especially the short rib and kalbi—which were rich, buttery, and melted in the mouth. Others had a bit more bite and a deeper umami flavor, like the leaner cuts of loin and brisket. The marbling was quite beautiful on a few of the pieces, and they grilled up with that perfect balance of char and juiciness.
We were absolutely stuffed by the end—so much so that we had to skip dessert. I think some reviews mentioned it was great.
Overall, it was a satisfying yakiniku experience. I wouldn't say it's a hidden gem, but if you're in the mood for a solid BBQ meal without overthinking the menu, this...
Read moreReally really good, can't recommend it enough.
We had the kakura course and got more then enough for it. Different kinds of meats and side dishes are brought over time so that the table is not filled with everything at once which worked great.
The taste and quality are fantastic, it was the best food we had on our Japan trip.
There was a large language barrier for us since we don't speak japanese, but staff tries their best to be helpful and we could understand the important parts in the end.
The ambiente is more or less casual with each table having its own section. It's not the most fancy, but overall fine.
As seems to be the norm for yakiniku it's quite pricey, with 6000¥+ per person for us (included a small drink and dessert). And there are even more expensive options. Nevertheless it's well worth it in my opinion and I absolutely...
