Very cool capsule hotel! The location is perfect. It is in the center of Fukuoka where you can find everything (shopping malls, restaurants, night life, etc.). It is inside a shopping mall, attached to the metro station, 2 stops from Hakata train station and 4 stops from Airport. It is located in the basement of the shopping mall, if you enter from the main entrance take the first escalator down and turn left and you will be in front of it. At the reception you will get a card with a QR code. With it you can open the door and enter in the structure, first room is the one with the lockers that you open with the same card (you get a capsule bed number that it is also the number of your locker). Inside the locker you will find a bag with a tracksuit/pijama, towels, slippers, and toiletries. In the same area there are Japanese toilets and showers (all very high standards, and nice style design). Passing another door you enter in the capsule beds room. Capsule beds are comfy, with light and usb plug. A tent can close the front of your capsule. There are lower and upper capsule beds. Even if people try to not make noise, can be that some noise is created from people that checkin and checkout at every time in the night, and also when they walk on the upper capsule. My suggestion is to use earplugs, and you will sleep like a baby. At the reception/lobby there is a sort of desk with chairs for around 6 people and plugs to recharge mobile phones. If you need something, you can ask help to the reception, they are very kind and helpful with everything (I asked for medicines and pharmacy, as for 7/11 and Family mart that is inside the structure). Crossing the street you have a big market with a lot of shops and restaurants, and in the corner the Don Quijote shop and Kura Sushi Kaiten chain shop. Ramen street is also...
Read moreLocated within the same building as the train station. The facility is clean. Shared shower but you don’t shower in front of others. Towels and clothes to sleep in are provided. I’m 5 foot 9 inches or 179cm and the pants fit and isn’t tight on me. I’m 180lbs or 81kg and waist size is 34 inches. The pants still has room for those that are heavier. The shirt they provide might not fit larger people. Tooth brush is provided with tooth paste but no razor. They also provide a shower for those that require a cane or wheelchair. Free WiFi and it’s fast. I can stream Netflix without any bandwidth issues. There is also a 24hr coin laundry about a 10 minute walk. Only downside is if you stay for multiple nights then you are required to check in and check out each day. Check in is at 1pm and checkout is at 10am. The other problem that some might run into is inside the capsule there is no...
Read moreAfter staying in numerous capsule hotels across Japan, I was excited to stay in this location during my recent stay in Fukuoka.
The excitement faded quickly. Perhaps I have been in Japan for too long and am too accustomed to polite and hospitable staff, but the group here seemed suicidal. No energy, disgruntled and annoyed by every interaction. Not sure If I have done something to upset them but over my two night stay I interacted with 6 staff members and only one was polite and kind. The others ranged from apathetic to flat out rude.
I would say the location was suitable, but with 4 other competitors (like "the millenial" which I'd highly recommend) a stone's throw away, there is no excuse to run this location with staff who seem more likely to jump off a bridge than do their jobs. Not sure if management is very poor, wages are low, or what, but my stay here nearly ruined...
