First impression: Absolutely stunning toilet in the lobby - it was actually the first time my jaw drops (literally) when I enter a toilet... yall have to see it for yourself hehe no spoilers! We picked the Japanese style room so the futon beds will be laid out in our room when we go downstairs for dinner!
Food: Breakfast and dinner included in the package, and you get to choose from 3 timings (7.30/8/8.30am AND 6.30/7/7.30pm) iirc Food was SUCH A SPREAD 😍 the food was so good but please eat slowly because your stomach might actually burst Choice of eggs for your breakfast (chawanmushi/tamago/onsen), and choice of fish for dinner (salmon/saba/something else)!! Salmon was really good but a little salty so have it with rice yums 😋
Service: Would've been 5/5 but there was some miscommunication which ended in us getting drenched and stranded at Owakudani (taxi that took us up refused to pick us up again, which was not what was told to us + no taxis coming up + heavy rain and wind so we can't walk 1.2km to the nearest bus stop). Worst thing after that was they didn't dry our shoes and just kept it in the cupboard wet (you only wear socks in the ryokan), so the next day we had to wear wet shoes :') Other than that, they were very patient and nice. Shiori speaks really great English and was the main translator for our stay hahahaha
Read moreWe booked a private room for the day to take advantage of the lunch and onsen. First of all, to walk there is a little treacherous as there is no sidewalk. When you book this day package, they don’t pick you up. We arrived a few minutes early and were asked to wait outside in the damp chilly drizzle. The lobby was only for overnight guests (?). When you are allowed in, you put your shoes in a coin locker (better have 100 yen coins!) and walk up a narrow passage to go to the second floor check in desk. You are told the rules, given a robe and towels, and when lunch will be served. The room is basic with no water facilities, only a tatami table and chairs. It would have been more comfortable to have some sort of recliner or lounge chair. Onsen was public, but had the necessary amenities. Lunch was alright, but nothing was exceptional. Overall, I felt that this place was too restrictive and uncomfortable to relax, due to the rules, facilities, and the desire to up-charge for everything. I did not feel welcome, relaxed, or well-regarded. I...

Definitely recommend the Rocca rooms on the 5th floor. The rooms themselves offer a wide range of amenities ie: Skin care, diffusers, outdoor bath tubs with large balconies, facial steamers, top notch coffee makers, a number complimentary beverages and many more. The attention to detail is...
