Extremely different dining experience. Literally feels like a friend invited you over to his studio and cooks you a nice meal while you listed to Van Halen on the karaoke machine.
Small dining room, sits around 7. Owner is the cook, server, and front of house all at once. He speaks excellent English and extremely nice and patient in explaining the menu.
From that menu: Oden 3 piece: Really good flavors, especially on the daikon with red miso on top. Perfect jet lag food.
Smoke Duck loin: Warm app, possibly cherry wood smoked, extremely fragrant and delicious.
Spinach Ohitashi: Solid cold dish, not overcooked
Japanese Hambagu: Juicy tender pattie with a mild sauce, side of salad and some grilled yamaimo. Only complaint is no rice, but hey it's just 900yen.
Unfortunately we did not drink but there is an extensive sake list, it's an izakaya after all. Definitely recommend people to check this shop out, pretty understated and a break from the usual tourist spots...

There was a large screen projector which was playing talented live jazz performances on YouTube at a moderate volume. It was really nice.
There was an acoustic guitar on a stand so I asked Fumi if he played guitar and he said yes, I will play some soon. After he served our food he brought over the guitar to our table and played fingerstyle complex songs. He is a very talented musician and you should request a song or 3.
The food was very tasty served on small plates. Don’t anticipate going for a full meal. Order some drinks and sample the tasty small plates he creates from scratch.
It was one of the more unique and tasty experiences in our...
