The Watermark hotel is an idyllic base for exploring the beautiful city of Kyoto. We stayed 4 nights here during cherry blossom season and were very pleased with our stay. Upon entering the hotel, we were welcomed with a smile and the serene sounds of the water feature in foyer, which created a relaxing vibe. We were given a room on the 6th floor, which was of a good size, and featured a plush queen size bed which was placed on tatami mats, as well as a small table and chair, and a bed head with smart lighting controls which could create a cosy ambience through a number of well placed lights and lanterns. A separate toilet, seperate bathing area, a hand basin located in the main corridor of the room, and a sliding door to seperate the sleeping space from the wider room were thoughtful design features that allowed for privacy. A TV, mini fridge, and an electric kettle enclosed in the bedroom cabinetry rounded out the amenities. We were able to comfortably fit 2 large suitcases in the room, and made use of the clothes hooks in the main corridor of the room for placing our daily wear items. Shampoo, Conditioner, and body lotion were provided in the bathroom, and a pair of Yukata was laid out on the bed for us, with additional items available for guest use in the downstairs foyer (razors, hair combs, tea, bath sponges, tooth brushes, Yukata etc). The Gojo train station is 100m away, and there are numerous eateries and restaurants serving delicious meals (cafes, noodles, curries etc) in the vicinity. Luxury shopping malls are just a 15min walk away. Staff are extremely helpful and courteous, and were able to organise Takkubin services for us on request. Fast wifi available in the room and foyer. We highly recommend this hotel for any guests looking for a comfortable base from which to...
ย ย ย Read moreLoved this hotel. The location was great. It was only a few mins away from exit 4 of Gojo Station, which was extremely convenient and nice when it comes to those late nights coming home, and you don't want to walk that much further. The room was spacious. Lots of table space to place your personal items and toiletries. I liked how the toilet was in a separate room to the shower/tub and how the sink was outside of those rooms as well. So that if you are sharing the room with someone can use the toilet and someone else can use the shower. There was also another door separating the bedroom to the sink, shower, and toilet area. There was heating and air conditioning. Everyday they come to do a quick clean of your room if you don't leave any signage outside of your door. They change the trash bins, the towels and make your bed. You can request to do a deep clean and you can also request for them to not disturb you at all. They have an ice machine and a vending machine for drinks. They have 2 washer/dryer machines. It's combined together so it washes and dries together and it automatically adds detergent. When I went during cherry blossom season, the laundry machines were always constantly being used, and you have to be quick to get to it, or else you will have to wait 2 hours, especially in the evening. You have to use 100 yen coins for the machines. These machines will never dry your clothes properly don't waste your money to try to add more time. Instead we just brought our clothes back to our room and used the hangers to dry them or lay them on your bed when you leave during the day. They have some cotton pads, cotton swabs, combs, slippers and bathrobes in the first floor free to grab. The ambient lighting the room was so nice!! Overall I highly...

Location: You can get off at Kyoto Station and walk, but it's one stop (230 yen) by subway, so if you have a lot of luggage, recommend the subway. It's 4 minutes away from the subway
Hotel: The hotel has a mat on the floor and a soft bed, and there are two types of pillows. The hard one (the one in the grandmother's shop) is soft. The blanket was soft and I slept well. The bathroom had a jaw, so the water wouldn't count out, and the bathtub was 187cm high enough for an adult male to sit down. The sink is outside and the bathroom and bathroom are separated. For your information, outside food can be brought in. (Asking the front desk)
Amenities: Amenities are taken directly from the elevator on the first floor. There seemed to be no restriction on the quantity, but I took over and used it. The toothbrush was soft and hard, and I could use the toothpaste twice. Towels are not rough but a little soft
Check-in: I think there are only two languages at check-in: English and Japanese. There are no Korean staff, so please refer to them when you check-in. For your information, you need a postal code when you check-in, so if you are booking here, search for the code in advance and save it. The name of the area should also be written in English. When you check in, you collect 200 yen per person, but this is not like a hotel service fee, but a "city tax" that the Japanese government collects. Hotels are also compulsory, so it's meaningless to consider it with the hotel.
Nearby attractions: Family Mart is a minute away from here and Fresco (Homeplus supermarket, Lotte supermarket) is two minutes away, so there is no problem in purchasing food, but you have to go out a little to find a restaurant. If you want to see Kiyomizudera, it is recommended for those who will stay for one night as soon as you come down after seeing Kiyomizudera
Advantages: Clean and tidy, even if you don't know Korean, if you type in the Papago and show it, it will help you kindly. There is a mart nearby, so it's good for drinking
Cons: You can hear the sound of the next room until you go to bed. It's not that loud, but I can hear it to a certain extent. To eat nearby, you need to go out
If I come to Kyoto next time, I want to come...
