Hotel called and was advised we needed to order a set for the kids even though the baby was going to be on me and didn't require a seat. We went there being okay with that but when we got there the staff immediately came out and said no kids and tried to turn us away. We pointed to her sign saying we are happy to order 4 lunch sets (even though we were 2 adults and 2 kids) and she said sorry no space, counter only and we said sure happy to do that, mind you restaurant had 4 other empty tables and the counter empty. Finally she said babies not allowed and closed the door on my husbands face.
It was a really horrible experience, and my daughter (3 yo) was so sad that she started crying. We understand some restaurants don't take kids but to say you take kids and require them to order the set menu which we are happy to do and then having a door shut in your face after walking a while to get to a restaurant in this heat is just unjustifiable...

The chef and the waitress (husband and wife probably?) speak very little English but are super friendly, polite and helpful. You can also buy vegan cheese for taking it home with you. I would always come back and highly recommend to...
Read moreDefinitely the best value vegan restaurant meal I've ever had, and close to as good as meals I've paid 2-3X more for. We had the 4500 yen set meal which was about 12-15 different "dishes" over 5 courses: a small palate cleanser followed by a generous mostly cold platter, then a pasta course then a main meal then a desert platter. Plus tea or coffee. Our three adult carni kids ate every morsel (a ringing endorsement on it's own). This place is a must for any vegan/vegetarian visiting Kyoto, and a welcome interlude for any carnivores who just want a break from the constant meat skewers that seem everywhere. You won't be...
