We had an amazing 3 night stay at holiday inn in Kyoto. The holiday inn has a y equiped gym, and on site small cafe open until 10pm with great coffee and affordable food. They also have a public bath house which is such an amazing experience and something you absolutely have to do in Japan. So accessible having one in the hotel you are staying in. Everything about the holiday inn was new and clean. It is small enough to feel homely and intimate but big enough to have those extras like the gym, bath house and cafe. There are umbrellas free to use too! The hotel room was set up well with such great detail like firm and soft pillow options, with coffee pod machine (coffee pods inc decaf pod all replenished daily - thank you!), a torch and a shoe horn. The bathroom was small but had everything we needed. I understand the toto/bidet toilets are pretty standard in hotels in Japan but we really loved the seat warmer feature which isn’t standard. Definitely add the Brekky option to your stay. It’s such a good mixture of western food and Japanese food and there were slight changes daily which helped mix it up. Also really liked the layout of the breakfast in that it was separate from the seating area. At another hotel we stayed at in Tokyo the breakfast was laid out in a way that meant every person entering the restaurant were passing by the food to get to their seats. The service from staff was also excellent. So friendly and helpful recommending places to eat and where to go and help with how to get their using public transport and also ordering a taxi when we needed it. The location is excellent. A minute walk from a pharmacy and a grocery store and then 15 minutes away from bigger shopping complex, temple and gardens. Also very close to bus stops to access other major attractions. Just can’t fault this place. Highly recommended to anyone travelling to Kyoto and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you holiday inn Kyoto Gogo!...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is quite good — it’s within walking distance from Kyoto Station, and there’s both a Fresco supermarket and a Family Mart nearby, which is very convenient. The area is quiet, and even though the hotel is right on the main road, you don’t hear any traffic noise.
The staff are extremely kind and helpful, always ready to assist with anything needed. The hotel has coin-operated laundry machines, which is a big plus for travelers. The rooms are fairly spacious and, like the entire hotel, very well maintained, nicely furnished, and spotlessly clean. I especially appreciated the in-room espresso machine, the large safe box, and the double choice of pillows (soft and firm).
The fitness room is new, though I didn’t have the chance to try the traditional Japanese bath. Breakfast is a good buffet, not extremely varied but satisfying, and the dining area is well organized with plenty of tables that are cleaned with disinfectant spray after each use.
If I had to point out a small downside, I’d say the air conditioning vent could use more frequent cleaning to avoid visible dust buildup, which can be uncomfortable for people with allergies like me.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for a comfortable and convenient...
