Fun little place. Packed with items and visuals…
It was a nice small meal but I personally thought the flavours could be richer and more complex. I had the curry with the salad combo: The salad was great, very tasty and fresh. I just wish it was a little bigger.
The curry was also a simple home made style curry— but as a man who cooks a lot of curry, I would like to suggest frying ginger, garlic and onions first and then adding that to the rest of the sautéed veggies/ curry sauce and spices.
It was okay but could have been a lot tastier with a few adjustments and a few more complex ingredients. Perhaps an extra two teaspoons of garam masala or curry powder/ smoked paprika would have really elevated it. But perhaps it’s just a mellow Japanese curry style. It tasted like puréed veggies with a hint of curry powder. Could be denser and richer.
Prices were average but could also be a bit less considering it was a small vegan portion.
A pass, but for me personally it did not hit home for a curry dish. Salad was 9/10 though.

Read moreA lovely cafe in Kyoto which also functions as shop for organic, sustainably sourced products. The owner and staff are very nice and can speak a bit of English. As I was hungry I took the curry rice rather than the sandwiches (which still looked pretty great), and then took chocolate cake as well as dessert.
The food was tasty and the atmosphere relaxing, taking a seat near the entrance allows for a bit of people watching and further relax, particularly if it’s a rainy day or if it’s afternoon-evening time.
Only warning is that the shop doesn’t use strong detergents of perfumes, and if you use heavily-chemical substances of the sort on yourself (being strong smelly in particular) then you might be denied entry.
Overall a recommended stop in Kyoto when you’re nearby and need something vegan to recharge from a long day or continuing it...
Read moreThis is such a nice, unassuming little spot in Kyoto that really brought a lot to our trip.
I travelled there with my partner. I came because I am drawn to any and all vegan food I can find. We returned because both my partner and myself really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff and the food.
The portion sizes are small but the quality is inctedible. If you want a nice, calm oasis for your trip in Kyoto, you couldn't do much better than here.
Be sure to bring a treat for Sasuke; the mascot cat of the place, and you'll bring a smile to the owner's face.
Doubtless if I find myself in Kyoto in the future, I'll find...
