tl;dr: this hotel is liveable in, but provides only the bare minimum, and its rooms are very small.
i stayed at this hotel for 2 days in 2019. the hotel is quite small. you enter the hotel compound through the carpark. there are separate lobbies for the extension and main buildings. the lobbies are quite small, with a lift, a staircase and an information board (with a map of the surroundings).
the lifts are quite small, and they have an information board about hotel services on the wall.
the rooms are generally okay to live in, but cramped. there's a hanging rack, a mirror, windows, a toilet, (a) bed(s), a table, a television, plug sockets, a fridge, a box of tissues, a kettle, a tea set, a rubbish bin, some chairs, a bottle of air freshener, a telephone, a notepad and a clock. the walls are generally clean, but have scratch marks and stains. they are soundproof (i assume they are, as they aren't hollow) though. the beds are quite nice to sleep on.
the information board in the lifts say to return your hotel key to the staff every time you leave the hotel. i don't think this is a good idea though. there was one time when i came back to the hotel. the staff provided me with my room key after she heard me discussing what my room number was with my family. this shows that hotel staff will provide room keys to anyone who knows a hotel room number, and creates the opportunity of theft.
the hotel has generally very few services, but they provide free breakfast at the cafe on the first level. they serve noodles, rice, scrambled egg, fried hashbrown, yoghurt, miso soup and other dishes. there is a hot spring bath on the third floor.
the hotel staff are courteous. they are quick to respond and will do their best to help you. one good example is mentioned above (the hotel staff giving me my key after hearing me discuss what my room number was with my family; she showed initiative as she gave me my key even though i...

I found the hotel so quiet, maybe because my room is in the end of the hall.|The hotel provided a laundry room with 3 washing machine and dryer (they provided the detergent), you will have to pay 200 yen to use the washing machine for 30 mins and another 100 yen for 30 mins of dryer (I always use 200 yen for 60 mins of dryer to have my clothes completely dry).|The hotel also have a public bath.|Despite of some bad review about this hotel, I have a very pleasant stay during the 6 nights. |The breakfast was fantastic, the staff are all helpful and have a very good English.|Will definitely come back to this hotel on my next...
Read moreThe Kyoto Plaza is clean and has friendly staff. Everyone gets free buffet breakfast comprising of a good selection of Japanese bits and pieces including fruit, cereal, yogurt, toast and scrambled egg (enough to satisfy European tastebuds). There’s two large ‘public’ baths in the hotel (one for men and one for women) on the 2nd floor (I would highly recommend trying). In our room we had a ‘semi’ double bed, was on the smallish side but perfectly adequate for two people (partner 6’ 4”) but a little hard. The room, again smallish, was acceptable by Japan standard with enough room for clothes and luggage and has an en-suite with shampoo etc provided and a kettle. There are about 8 Japanese only TV channels available (lots if sumo) . In our 11th floor room the wifi was non existent and we needed to sit in the corridor to get a signal. On checking in we were expected to pay an ‘extra’ tax despite my booking including 78 dollars for all hotel taxes. Overall I would recommend this hotel. It is near the train station (10 minutes walk) and next to a main shopping centre. I’d...
