DAISO — Local services in Kyoto

Quite a large store by Kyoto's standards. As usual, full of nice, fun stuff but do be careful - not all items are at 100 yen. Look at the labels. Also, take note that this store is NOT located in the main Aeon Mall. It is located in the smaller building across the street. If you are at ground level, head for the building with the Toys R Us logo. If you're not at ground level and are stuck in the main building, take the lift or escalator to the second or third level (in Japan, ground level is counted as level one). Daiso is not what it once was. First the price for most products has gone up, second many of the best products have totally gone away. It is still worth looking at if you need home goods but be sure to check other similar stores before you make a purchase. If you are looking for the best items for the price you should check the home centers and the work stores before you buy it from Daiso. The quality and even the price may be better at Seria Can do or even Work Man. Still looking for rubber shoelaces and a shoe horn. Next...

This is a huge branch of Daiso taking up a huge amount of floor space. The aisles are wide apart making it easier to navigate the store. I was a little disappointed and surprised that they do not stock any battery powered fans. There is a fridge with a selection of cold drinks as well as a fair selection of food, snacks and sweets.
