Tajimaya Shinsaibashi — Restaurant in Osaka

Food: 5/5 Good quality of food 95% of the time Service: 4/5 No reservation for smaller groups Value: 3/5 Sadly portions keep getting smaller and smaller Ambiance: 4/5 It's usually good as long as you don't have rowdy neighbors since the rooms are sometimes only divided by partitions.

Have been frequenting this restaurant located in the basement floor of the Nikko Hotel in Shinsaibashi for the past 5 years when I am in Osaka.

The service has been good for the most part, but lately it seems to be more crowded than usual, since they don't take reservations for smaller groups it is a first come first serve which can be a real hassle/gamble at times. Have not been able to dine at the restaurant the last couple of times that I have been there, so ended up dining elsewhere.

Sadly the portion sizes for the meats keep getting smaller and smaller as years have passed, so not a good value proposition in regards to cost either.

No English menu in this restaurant, but they do have some English speaker who can actually give you some good advises for ordering. But also google translate can help you to make ordering easier, if you do speak Japanese at all like me. I was very like to enjoy this dinner with loads of Japanese speakers so I had fantastic dinner and enjoyed a lot!

This restaurant located in the basement floor of the Nikko Hotel in Shinsaibashi for few years. They provides high-quality beefs and great service here, so if you love Yakiniku like me, this store would be the best choice if you’re in Osaka.

Must have their specialty UNIKU ... a combo of rare meat and sea urchin ... and yes, Tajimaya steak ... Premium Tenderloin ... not so, Premium Outside Skirt Chateaubriand ... very tough, chewy, not worth ordering.

Hot Green Tea Poured Pickled Plum on Rice, Tajimaya original Sundubu soup are all deliciouly presented ...

Sake, and all the wines are just perfect ... great list. Sometimes the cheapest on the list are the best ... ¥900/glass 2022 Arboleda Cab Sauv 92 points.

Private rooms, not smoky ... very quaint...
