It is much smaller than I expected.|I booked a room with a desk but it is way too small. Although the website states the very accurate information (11m or something), I wasn't thinking carefully. It is super small.||If the room is this much tiny, they should equip lots of hooks, so we can hang many things on the wall. It isn't functional at all. I had stayed in a similar accommodation before. The room is designed much better from the point of view of guests. Rooms at Aratayo are just too small with no key or hooks. ||Money exchange machine is available on the ground floor.|There is a small bar right next to the reception.|There is a 7-eleven next door.||Location-wise, I am not sure if it is great or not. |It is a walking distance from 4 subway stations but the location isn't so perfect for me. Accessible from 4 stations, which means the hotel isn't close to any station. It is like 10 minutes walking from any 4 stations.|I got off at Honmachi station (Midosuji line) and it took nearly 10 minutes. |Also Honmachi station has many stairs. There might be a lift but it should be somewhere you can't find easily, it was tough to go up and down with a suitcase.|||As you can imagine, the wall is very thin. |First of all, there is no proper door. It is roller blind only to keep you privacy, meaning the noise directly comes into your room. |The night I stayed was rather quiet except for one guest. Most guests were very quiet but the noisy guest started using the hair dryer at 01:00am. |The layout of this hostel is very strange. |The section of single rooms has a powder room with big mirrors, cotton swabs etc... Even hair dryers are equipped there but imagine how noisy it will be if someone uses a hair dryer at a weird time. |Unfortunately my room was very close to the powder room and I had to ask the guest to stop using the hair dryer. She was surprised "isn't it a powder room ?' Yes, exactly ! It is a power room, so I don't get why the powder room is laid out next to the single rooms... very strange layout. Inconsiderate people use hair dryers at 01:00am !||There is another powder room, which is next to the bathroom. It should be targeted for those who stay in the dorm but I think only the powder room is enough for every guest on the floor. |As the public space isn't big enough, the powder room in the single room section should be converted into a chilling out room etc.| |By the way, those who stay in the dorm can't enter single room sections. Single room section is locked. (My guess,,,)||The opposite side of the single room section is dorm/capsule room section. |There is a public space between the single rooms section and capsule room section. |That is where you can shower, use the toilet, a fridge, microwave, etc. |There is another powder room there, too. If you want to use a hair dryer after midnight, use the space as the space is completely separated with doors, you won't bother anyone. ||Upon checking-in, you will receive a bag, containing room wear, bath towel, face towel and bath mat. Each time you take a shower, bring the bathmat too. Disposal slippers are provided too. ||There is a kitchen, but kitchen tools are not provided fully. I saw a memo on the wall "if you need kitchen tools, ask reception", which I didn't do. Not sure what they can offer. At least I found some kitchen tools in the drawers. |||Overall, it is a very tiny and tidy backpacker place. |If you are a backpacker, this place would be great as you have privacy and the hostel is very clean and modern. |If you would rather save money, you should consider another place. I didn't enjoy my stay here at all.|||After I booked a room through booking.com, I sent a query by email. You can find the email in their official FB but no response. I re-sent but no response. |It seems like they never check the email|There was hacking trouble including booking.com. |Suspicious emails were sent to me pretending as if it was from the hostel. |Atarayo wouldn't update anything in their FB nor IG. |When I called them finally (International call), someone finally picked up my call. |It seems like they mainly communicate in booking.com. If you need response from them, use booking.com (or agoda)|||After check-out, you can leave your luggage, which is very helpful but you can't get in the public space anymore, which is just behind the reception. |I wanted to re-pack quickly and change my clothes when I came back to the hostel after I checked out but they wouldn't let me in.|Instead, they have a huge toilet like disabled one at the reception. |They asked me to do everything in the toilet.|Probably they had guests who still stayed in the kitchen area for a long time after they checked out, the hostel is actually well prepared for those who checked-out.|I have to admit that the reception area is well designed for those who already checked out. |Just remember, you can't go inside once you check out.|||I didn't enjoy the staff's attitude, either. They just do their job with no...
Read more*note- we stayed for 3 nights ||Pros:|- Clean Space|- friendly staff|- a 6 minute walk to Shainsabashi Shopping street, about 17 minute walk to main Dotombori area, and about 8 minute walk to public transit (train)|- Hot Water |- amenities offered: hand soap, body wash, shampoo, pajamas, towel (face and body), room slippers |- great for someone doing a “last minute just need somewhere to sleep” place lol||Cons:|- BARELY any storage space in the room (which was only a tall thin closet with only 1 shelf and only 3 hangers. it does have a lock but does not fit a standard carry on hard shell unless the wheels can be removed and unless there’s is nothing in the luggage)|- No door, only a curtain to block the entry of others into your cubicle, which also means:|- you can hear every noise made in the hallway of people coming, packing, and going|- Barely any amenities and, though they have a hot water machine (at least on the 3rd floor) you have to go downstairs to borrow a mug (if there’s even one available) |- shower space was soooooo so small- if you are a plus-size person it will feel very uncomfortable |- no place to hang your stuff in the shower (they offer a little box in the floor but it was always dirty with other peoples hair lol)|- stayed in the upper cubicle and stairs were sturdy but tv was right above your bed so be careful you don’t knock into it when sleeping/moving around |- bed wasn’t that comfy...
