The hostel was very conveniently located just 5 mins walk from Takayama Train and Bus Station. We booked a room with an ensuite toilet. There is no wardrobe, fridge, hot water flask and safe in the room, but you can use the fridge and hot water flask at the kitchen at level 2. They provide stickers for you to label your stuff in the fridge. The space in the room was good to put our luggage and hangers to hang some of your clothes. It was quite a small room but not the smallest that we stayed in before. There was enough space to put our 2 luggages. Takayama was a relatively quiet place so there was no issue with noise from outside. Toilet was small but you can get used to it. ||There were washing machine and dryer, just pay 300 yen at the counter to use it. Free brewed coffee in the morning and all day green tea and coffee powder for guests' use. The staff can speak good English and were friendly. Guests need to remove their shoes whenever they enter the hostel premises from level 2 onwards||This is a cozy and hospitable hostel, really...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights in the Japanese styled ensuite room. It was quiet, comfortable and cosy. We rented pyjamas for only ¥100 a set. Saved us the trouble of packing our own. As we stayed for more than a night, we were given complimentary one time use of laundry. The usual cost was ¥300 for washer and dryer. (FYI there were two washers and dryers.) Very reasonable price. The kitchen was well equipped. A guest was cooking dinner (frying vegetables, not just instant noodle) on our first night and they also tried using the ice shaving machine to make ice shaving. It was a fun place to stay. No bottled water was provided but you can drink the tap water, so be sure yo bring your own bottle. The hostel was very well maintained. Very clean and organised. The staff can speak relatively fluent English and are helpful to provide information. They also helped to arrange for our luggage to be transferred to our accommodation in Shinjuku as we were going hiking at Kamikochi after Takayama. It was a great experience staying...
Read moreThe premises is just a mere 5 minutes walk from the bus and train station. Although reception is not at ground level and you must climb 1 level up using a staircase, a lift is available from reception to your room floor. The staffs are super-friendly and very helpful. We booked japanese style room in December and we loved it (travelling with 3 chlidren), although you may need to consider sleeping with only a medium thickness mattress (a futon) separating you from the tatami matted floor. Halal food vendor (nepalese food joint) is literally next door right on the street corner. I believe this is the only establishment which carries the Halal food sign in Takayama. Another point to note, this is one of few hotels that allows more than 4 person to occupy a room, abd the only one that gives a very reasonable price tag. Will choose this establishment again should we ever visit Takayama...
