Tsukimi-dera or Hongyo-ji Temple, a temple of Nichiren Buddhism Sect, created in 1526, but it is probably located in Nippori area or Yanaka area, a so-called old town area of modern Tokyo, around 1709. Like most of the temples in Nippori area, the Temple also has large space which is cemetery.
Yanaka or Nippori is suitable for the visitors, especially foreign visitors, to see and to feel the slow path of resident life in Tokyo, although the area is currently in landscape change because many old buildings were torn down and replaced with new and high residential condos or mansions. But visitors can still see old-style grocery and deli stores in the area.
The Temple has numerous cheery blossom trees and is loved by the locals and other visitors at the flowering seasons in March to April. For other time of the year, the Temple is relatively quiet except a few religious worship days.

It is said that Ota Suketaka, the grandson of Ota Dokan, built it in Edo Castle in 1526, and moved to Kanda and Yanaka before moving to its current location in 1709.
