Habutae Dango Honten — Local services in Tokyo

A confection store that dates back to as old as 1819, which sells dango, a Japanese sweet dumpling made from rice flour. Rebuilt in 2019, the building is very new and clean, and it might be a good place as a cafe (they don’t have coffee, though.). That said, I wouldn’t think just an authentic dango is worth ¥300. Even worse, perhaps because they’ve been maintaining the taste since the time, when sugar was rare, its dango is not really sweet. As with other old stores, it doesn’t accept any payment but cash. It looks to me like they are just dependent on the longevity.

Recently revisited. They now accept various payment methods like credit cards and Suica. I, however, had such a bad experience as to detract from the good change. There was a staff yelling out loud at another staff in the kitchen to criticize some mistake. Her lashing out was so insane that all the cutomers there including me were visibly upset.
