This place was a fantastic place to stay for 8 days. Let me start with the elephant in the room, this is a known "love hotel". You can bill your room in 30 min increments if that is what you are looking for. We did not know this when we booked and were a little surprised when we found out. But that does not mean it was a bad experience!
The Good:
The staff spoke broken English and were more than ready to use a translator app when needed, so there was no issues with communication. They were also very nice and helpful. They had no issues with helping us with our bags and even holding them after we checked out since we had a 9pm flight. This gave us an extra nearly full day to explore Tokyo without worrying about our 6 items of luggage.
We requested our room be cleaned with no issues and there were always fresh towels or pillows in the lobby if we needed them.
They also had free Gin, soda, coffee, tea and other drinks in the lobby as well as an assortment of items like bath salts, massage oil, toothbrushs and more to pick from at any time.
The room was tidy and clean minus the bathroom (I'll get to that in a minute) and the bed was passable or the area. I found out that unless you are staying at a western style hotel, do not expect the softest beds. So here the bed was soft for Japanese mattresses, but harder than I would like it to be. And the sound proofing. Omg, it was amazing. I expect that because of the 'style' of hotel this is they build in extra noise proofing, but once the door closed behind me in the room, there was no sound from other rooms or the hall. I never heard any other person while I was in my room, and that is something I can not say happens in most hotels I stay in.
This hotel is also only a 10 min walk from the nearest train station and a super market, so there is no shortage of convenience. We stayed here while visiting Tokyo because of it's proximity to a station while being mostly central to all the things we wanted to see while visiting. There is also a great selection of ood in the area, some of which are open late for an evening dinner.
The Bad:
The location was convenient, but not a great area at night. The road in between the station the hotel is a notorious red-light district and this is something we didn't know going in. Walking that strip at night was a bit sketchy, but at no time did it feel unsafe. Just, well, like a red-light district. The area itself is very self contained. We found we could avoid the whole district by simply walking on the street a block over at night to avoid the people and bright signage.
This place is listed as having a "great breakfast" but that is simply not true in my opinion. I think it's a great breakfast if you are only staying overnight, because it's free. It was Hotdogs and Egg Salad Sandwiches. And I think I am just too western to want to eat Hotdogs and Egg Salad for breakfast every morning for 8 days. The hotdogs were not even good hotdogs, they were boiled. But every time I went down in the morning there were 6 or more people happily getting their fill of Hotdogs and Egg salad, so I guess it can't be that bad?
The Ugly:
The bathroom was gross. This isn't to say they hadn't cleaned it, but it clearly was old and needed to be gutted. There was a panel missing from under the tub where water had clearly been pooling and the constant smell of pungent mildew was rough. The trim on the door was also coated, showing that it had not been deep cleaned in an unknowable amount of time. There were wall patches where there had clearly used to be towel bars and hand holds, but were no longer. It was annoying going 8 days with not so much as a hook to hang my towel after I was done showering. This was my biggest turn off for the hotel in general, this bathroom needs to be gutted and is the reason I...
Read moreDon't get the wrong impression about this "love hotel". In America that phrase sounds seedy, but this place is classy at a reasonable price. Our room is a private spa, with a tub of on the balcony, and a jacuzzi and sauna inside. There's also a massage chair and all the amenities you could want. The bed was very comfy. Delicious room service breakfast is only ¥200 each.
Our reservation was for 10 PM to 10 AM, but they let us check in 2 hours early and check out at noon for no extra charge.
Reservation on the web site was challenging since they have no English site. But it was worth it. My wife and I plan...
