The Lost HorizonThe Lost Horizon
I was reluctant to leave a review. This hotel is like a hidden treasure and I don't want to compete to reserve rooms. The location is fantastic and my absolute favorite place to stay in the Tokyo area. The rooms for this location are the perfect size for 2 people and the bathroom is fantastic. The bathroom is easily the biggest I've experienced in the area in the last decade. They are small by North American standards but they are luxurious by Tokyo standards for the price point. Any Tokyo hotel with an attached convenience store already gets high marks too. The staff were fantastic and the check in/out process easy. BUT there is room for improvement. The rooms are dusty. I mean like seriously dusty. Behind the curtains, behind the TV, under the bed. All the out of sight places had layers of dust. Enough so that I did have a bit of cough when I would wake up in the mornings. The other point is the beds. The bed, while a good size for 2, was very uncomfortable. Too hard across the back. Excellent pillows though. Overall I highly recommend it. I look forward to going back and hopeful that the dust issue was just an outlier and maybe I just got a bad bed.

Exceeded my expectations — great stay in central Tokyo! I was traveling from Kyoto to Tokyo and needed to book a hotel last minute. Since it was my first time visiting Tokyo, I was quite unsure and overwhelmed by the number of options online. Despite a few negative reviews, this hotel had consistently high ratings, so I decided to give it a try — and I’m so glad I did! I’ve stayed here for 2 nights and everything has been great. The front desk staff are kind, helpful, and very attentive. The location is fantastic — I walked from Tokyo Station with my suitcase without any trouble. When I arrived, I was very tired, and during check-in they kindly offered me a complimentary coffee. Later, I discovered that the hotel offers a variety of free snacks and both hot and cold drinks throughout the day. These small details made a big difference. The room has everything you might need. Yes, it’s a bit compact, but totally normal for Tokyo. I’d definitely stay here again. Highly recommended for comfort, service, and location!

The hotel is very new (opened in April 2018) and it is conveniently located near Ginza (just a 10 min walk from the hotel). There are two metro stations right around the corner (Takaracho and Kyobashi stations) so that’s super helpful to go around Tokyo, and go from and to either airport in Tokyo (Haneda or Narita). The room I stayed in was very clean and had all the amenities I needed (safe, outlet adapter, toiletries, etc). The room came with a mobile phone with free data and calls for me to use as well. I took it with me everyday and it was super useful to navigate around Tokyo with it. There is also a convenience store next to the hotel with direct access from the hotel with a room card. The only downside was the size of the room which was very small for two people and three pieces of luggage, and the bed was not as comfortable as I had wished. However, just for the location, I wouldn’t mind staying a few days there again if the price is still good.

I have mixed feelings about this stay because of the inconsistent service level experienced throughout the stay. For instance prior to checking in I emailed to request the lowest floor possible and 2 extra pillows due to back problems, and advised that my traveling companion would not be arriving until the last night. I was told that my friend would have to register at the Front Desk upon arrival. I arrived about an hour early for check in, and was told by a male employee that although my room was ready I couldn’t check in using the kiosk until 3pm🤔 He also asked if I really needed 2 extra pillows - yes I said, but I’ll take 1 if that’s all they had. So I settled down in the lounge and started charging my phone. At 245pm a female employee came up to me saying my room was ready so go ahead and check in on the kiosk. I was placed on the highest floor, got 1 extra pillow that was as hard as a rock. The bed was also very hard so I had very little sleep and my back is now hurting so bad 😭.2 days later my friend arrived so I took her to the front desk to get her registered but was told that it wasn’t necessary 🤷🏻♀️ We went upstairs so she could shower and were about to head out for the evening when she noticed that she would need another towel set for when we returned later that night because she would need to wash her hair and she had mistakenly placed her towel on the floor after using it. So I called and requested another set and was asked, “Don’t you already have 2 sets?” I said yes, but one was used and could we get a clean set, and she said yes but they’ll collect the used set, so I said that’s fine. 5 minutes later I met the employee at the door with the used set in my hands to exchange for the new set and she says no, just keep it in the room 🙄Finally upon checkout day, we got a call from a male employee at 1113am saying that checkout was at 11am and I replied that I could’ve sworn it was at 12 but that we were ready to leave so we’d be right down. He responds in a scolding tone that he will charge me ¥2000 for late checkout. We get to the checkout counter and my friend notices on a flyer that it says “Checkout at 12noon” on it for GranVista members, which I am (I signed up for it when I checked in. I show my membership to the female employee and she says oh ok, then calls another employee over to discuss what to do, then she asks me to open my app again so she can write down my membership #, then she says ok now you can go back to the room and wait til 12noon to checkout. I said no thanks we’re already vacated and will be leaving.  It was just a very strange experience and left me feeling less than satisfied despite all the fun amenities and...

We spent one night at this hotel as a step-off point after getting into Tokyo from LAX. We were heading straight to Kyoto the following day but first wanted a night to decompress before getting back on the road. Hotel Intergate Tokyo Kyobashi served our needs very well.

We picked this hotel based on its location a short walk from Tokyo Station (from which we’d be catching the Shinkansen to Kyoto) and its favorable reviews. Our check-in was smooth and fast, and we were in our room in no time.

Everything about our room was functional and impeccable. It was quiet and had an unobstructed view of a piece of Tokyo. Tokyo was still hot and humid when we arrived (late September), and we were thankful for the room’s powerful AC unit.

Our room itself was pretty tiny (nothing unfamiliar to a pair of New Yorkers), but it wasn’t hard to move around, and they were able to fit a small table with chairs in it, despite the lion’s share of the floor space being taken up by the bed. The room had a soothing color palette, good lighting choices, and conveniently-placed outlets and shelf-space. There was a matching pair of pajamas laid out on the bed with slippers nearby; I didn’t use them, but the considerateness of the gesture didn’t escape me. There were certain other little flourishes, like a complimentary bottle of fabric freshener as well as tea bags.

The bathroom facilities worked great. It’s always a happy thing when a hotel’s shower doesn’t disappoint. I’d also been looking forward to the experience of being made to feel stupid by a space-aged Japanese toilet; while the toilet, functionally excellent as it was, was not super space-agey, a basic dashboard did help me partially realize my dream of being utterly humbled by toilet tech.

The bed was what it needed to be: clean, adequately spacious, and comfortable. Our goal was to recharge after an exhausting trip, and we got to do just that.

The next morning, we brought our breakfast from the nearby Lawson back to our room and had a relaxing meal before checking out. (The hotel offers breakfast in a pretty eating area; also, there’s a Family Mart in the hotel’s building, but we chose to forgo both options and step out.

Our stay at Hotel Intergate Tokyo Kyobashi was everything we needed it to be: simple, efficient, practical, and hospitable. Our gratitude to its staff for helping us start our Japan journey on the right foot....

Just finished a seven night stay here - avoid this hotel. The location is nice but the rooms are tired, extremely cramped, the bathrooms smell putrid and worst of all there is dust EVERYWHERE. I don't understand why there is so much dust with the room being the size of a closet - there are clumps of dust behind the TV and I ended up cleaning my own room with a rag to get rid of as much dust as I can. However my laptop and belongings were still always covered in dust. I am dealing with sinus issues because of the extreme amount of dust. And this was not just my room - my friends in other rooms had just as much dust if not more, and their bathroom smelled like sewage.

I’ve stayed in many hotels in Japan and great service has always been a given. Not here, unfortunately. The service was absolutely terrible, with subtle signs of frustration and aggression shown by the front desk staff which was extremely disappointing. What got me so upset was that I had to change my flight to an early morning flught, due to my original evening flight getting cancelled and I had paid for late checkout. In the morning, I asked the front desk for a refund. A male employee saw me waiting and continued to shuffle around papers for quite a while, completely ignoring me. After he finally called me up, and instead of a refund, the male employee charged my card again and we spent what seemed like an eternity figuring this out, which made me late for my uber and flight out of Haneda. He was completely unapologetic and seemed to be in no rush to assist me. Eventually, another staff member had to just pay me in cash due to his inability to figure out the credit card machine.

My biggest regret for this trip was booking this hotel. I will never stay at any Intergate or Granvista...
