The location of the Courtyard at Tokyo Station is excellent; providing easy access to both the Tokyo Metro (almost next door) and JR train system at Tokyo Station (2 blocks away). In addition, the shopping and eating areas located in the Kyobashi, Ginza, Nihonmbashi, Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Tsukiji areas are all within a reasonable walking distance and the property's location encourages one to explore these neighborhoods on foot.
The staff of this location is exceptional and were always willing to provide whatever assistance they could to address the needs of their guests. The staff was multi-lingual and there were no issues in communicating with them. The staff is considered to be the principal reason that our stay in Tokyo was memorable, as every effort was made to ensure our time at the Courtyard was trouble free and comfortable and allowed us to focus on the things we wanted to do.
The breakfast service (complimentary for Gold and Platinum Elite guests) is exceptional and includes made to order eggs, an assortment of breakfast meats (i.e., bacon and sausage), and various breads and pastry to provide a variety of morning fare for the traveler. The available fruit assortment was always fresh and inviting and, what's more, this location also offered a japanese style breakfast and vietnamese pho for those who desired such an option.
The evening snack service for Marriott Rewards members would be better described as a meal service as it included various appetizers for sharing (chicken wings and onion rings, fish and chips, or smoked salmon) and such light meal items as a pasta dish, a ceasar salad, or a tasty burger and fries. The offerings available during this 'snack service' were so filling, it was not necessary to go out for dinner.
The Queen Size room, while not comparable in size or space to a Courtyard in the U.S.,, was still comfortable for a couple. A second chair and a small table would have been nice, but, most of our time was spent outside enjoying the offerings of springtime in Tokyo. While a little more room space might be desirable, the positives of this property's location and guest services far outweigh any potential shortcomings.
While less costly alternatives for lodging can be found throughout the Tokyo area, the intangibles of this property's location, access to transportation, and the exceptional service and support provided by its knowledgeable staff make the cost of staying at this Courtyard...
Read moreI booked a Creators Queen room as a gold member. No upgrade but I was able to get late checkout. On check in I received a cookie and was notified that I could get beverages such as coffee at the front desk which was a pleasant surprise.||I’m sorry but I must be honest in my review that the room itself was quite small. Technically more spacious than a local Japanese business hotel, perhaps, but not much more. I do not expect a huge room from the Courtyard brand and admittedly I booked on a heavily discounted rate. For that reason, I will rate my experience as average however if I had paid full rack rate for the rooms this hotel has I would have found the situation unacceptable. I’m quite surprised to see the other reviews here touting value. Have they stayed in Tokyo or most hotels before? When it comes to Marriott, for just a bit more per night you can stay somewhere like the Westin or the Mesm, Autograph Collection with spacious rooms and much nicer amenities. Perhaps it’s the location but the average nightly price does not make sense to me considering the local business hotel competition.||The hotel itself is quite small. It is 4 floors high with the lobby on the top floor, fitness room on floor 3, rooms on floor 2, and the restaurant and entrance on floor 1. What I can say is great is, of course, the location. The hotel is about 2 blocks from Tokyo station which is likely the most prestigious station in Japan. The hotel is actually right next to Kyobashi station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line which I would actually suggest over JR as it is closer. ||I try to give every hotel I stay at a fair shake and enjoy it for what it is. As I stated previously, for the special rate I paid I had an acceptable experience. However, after research, if I had paid the regular rate for this hotel I would have been beside myself. The average price paid vs value received is simply not there when you consider the other options in Tokyo both budget and upscale. It is all for the location? Otherwise I honestly struggle for a reason to desire staying at this...
Read moreIdea location to base your travels within Tokyo. It was very convenient to walk 60 meters to the Kyobashi Station (exit where Lava Cafe and make right turn and entrance is kiddy corner of Meidi-Ya Co building). Finding the location was not straight forward doing internet searches. If you are coming from the Tokyo Station, head out of the CENTRAL YAESU ( east) exit on the 1st floor. Walk 243 meters east down 都道408号線 street and make a right on 国道15号線. Walk south for182 meters and the Courtyard will have large sign on the Kyobashi Trust Tower. Go inside the tower and then head off to the 4th floor. Rooms are located on the 4th, 3rd, and 2nd floors. Once you get oriented to the area, there are faster ways to get to the Tokyo Station.
Breakfast is good and there is a wide variety to choose from. Depending on the day, you may be eating at the Lavarock or GGCo Cafe & Bakery. Both places have good food; serve both American/European and Japanese breakfast options. Make sure you take the numbered stick at your table when ordering hot foods. Staff speak perfect English.
Complimentary evening meal has limited choices but is enough for a dinner. The set menu includes Ceaser salad (chicken/shrimp), chicken wings, french fries, salmon, pickles, alcohol, and various other drinks.
Room size is not too bad. I was happy they stock the frige daily with two bottles of water. There was no closet or drawers so minus one star. They have black out curtains that really make your room even when it's sunny outside.
Front desk was very courteous and helpful. They all speak perfect English. They even had loaner umbrellas that we used. You just need to ask and make sure you return them. They also have free drinks and snacks for gold and platinum members 24/7.
Very easy to get to Ginza area. Just take the Tokyo Subway. Head to the Kyobashi station and then get off of Ginza Station (towards Shibuya). Cost 170 Yen one way.
Overall, good hotel but not as nice as the Nagoya or Osaka Marriotts but that won't be fair as they are not of...
