This restaurant is one of the most famous curry spots in Tokyo, often ranked among the city’s top places for curry, and definitely worth visiting. It’s located in the Ginza area, but you’ll need to make a reservation in advance.

The atmosphere inside is lovely—it feels like stepping into a European-style restaurant, with classical music playing softly in the background. The service is handled by an elderly lady, who is very kind and charming, while the cooking is done by a gentleman in the kitchen.

There are only two items on the menu: beef curry rice and seafood curry rice. Unfortunately, when I visited, the seafood option was sold out, so I ordered the beef curry. Before the main dish, they served a salad that was surprisingly delicious. The homemade balsamic-style dressing paired perfectly with crispy fried lotus root on top.

The main dish itself was outstanding. Unlike typical Japanese curry, this was oven-baked curry rice, served piping hot with melted cheese, tender beef, and a richly simmered broth. The curry was intensely flavorful yet smooth, not spicy at all, and the beef was perfectly cooked—not tough at all. The baked rice added a slight crispiness, which combined beautifully with the curry and cheese.

It was honestly one of the best curry dishes I’ve had—comforting, rich, and perfectly balanced. The wait for food can be a bit long since there’s only one chef cooking and the restaurant is always full, but it’s absolutely worth it.

If you’re a curry lover visiting Tokyo, this place is a must-try. You’ll definitely...

It's a curry restaurant that has a very strong divide between the pros and cons. The interior is decorated like an exclusive club, with statues and vessels placed here and there, and classical music is used as background music. However, some people may find them ostentatious and unapproachable. The background classical music, in particular, is grandiose, uplifting, and loud, and I did not feel that it was the music of choice for a slow, conversational dining experience. The restaurant is located on the basement level, and there is an elevator as well as stairs to go up and down. However, because of the relatively large steps at the entrance to the building, wheelchairs and other disabilities may find it a bit difficult to use the elevator. There is a unique system in which, in addition to the food, either a seat charge or an additional order of one drink is mandatory. The staff was soft-spoken and courteous, but (at least during dinner time), one person is in charge of serving customers, and often withdraws to the kitchen for dish preparation, serving, etc. In addition, there is no bell at each seat, so it is often difficult to call for help when you need to order, etc. The main dish, curry, may seem expensive (especially during dinner hours), but it's well prepared. While the spices are not overpowering, they are served hot and may be too hot to enjoy the flavor of the curry until it has cooled down to a certain degree. Since the food is cooked to order, it may take some time to be served. It's best to allow plenty of time for using...

I am not quite sure why the rating on this place is so high.. there are only two people working here. The food is extremely slow. They have more than 5 different curry selections but the waitress will tell you that two will have your order out in 15-20 minutes while the remaining ones will take 45-60 minutes because those take more time.... why would I come during my office lunch hours to wait 1 hour for a meal to come out? I had the "fastest" curry but it wasn't to my liking... it felt like all they did was dunk curry on top of rice and poured large amount of cheese on top. I was not a fan but perhaps if you don't mind waiting, this would be your place! I have no complaint on the...

Came here for lunch around 11.30am. There was only 1 old lady doing everything from taking orders, serving, cleaning the table. But luckily we did not wait long to be seated. We were served with Japanese sweets before we could order. We ordered 1 beef curry and 1 seafood curry soup. For beef curry, the broth is very thick and with the cheese on top, you mixed them with the rice. We chose the spiciest and it is still not very spicy, just perfect! The seafood soup was unexpected cause they separated the rice and the soup. The soup was light and they gave us huge portions of shrimps and clams. It goes well with the rice. Highly recommended if you are looking for new kind of Japanese curry!
