This is the worst ticketing system in the world. There are so many different companies, and it takes a lot to understand what type of ticket is needed on which line. Not to mention how complicated it was to even find a location and buy a 48-hour ticket. Don't forget to bring your passport or watch a YouTube video so you don't miss that information. This ticketing system is absolutely illogical for a country that boasts about being guided by logic. In addition, the staff was rude, and instead of helping, they blamed the system for the problems. A lady at the information system tricked me into buying a day ticket, making me believe it would last for 24 hours. After I was done with the purchase, she told me that the ticket would only last until the last...

I was oblivious to how well the train/subway system was my first time in Tokyo. When my wife and I came here in Oct of 2016, she figured it out and I totally depended on her.

My subsequent visits (total of 3 in 2017) I had to make sure I experienced the train and subway systems.

In August of 2017, I brought my son to Tokyo and I decided to try to stick with the Subway as much as possible. I found out that Toei and Tokyo Metro has a 3 day unlimited use pass for less than $20. Half for my son because of his age!

I decided that I wanted to learn the lines and see the stations and hot spots near these smaller stations.

Definitely get this pass if you are going to...

For a visitor especially English speaking this system is fantastic. Great signs, announcement in English as well. Clean, like everything in Japan. Tons of information about where to stand and get off, where each station is, how long to get somewhere, how to change lines, all of which is necessary because it is so complicated. Also inexpensive.
