*incredibly rude service and pointless waiting

First off, I’ve never ever left a one star review for any restaurant so - After a long day of flight, we arrived at this place, thinking that we could enjoy wonderful food since this specific branch promotes itself for having 24 hours service. Nonetheless, the waiter (which I highly doubted was the same one that was mentioned in the comments) spoke in Japanese explaining that because of a shortage of staff, the shop is partially closed so we joined the queue outside the restaurant. Mind you, it was a freezing cold night.

When we thought it was finally our time to get in, he asked for a show of hands of the seats for the restaurant. Mistakingly thinking that there were only two of us, he sighed as if it was our thought and made us wait without explaining the situation.

Once we were FINALLY seated, he came up and asked if me and my sibling were of legal drinking age (20 years old in Japan). Knowing that my sibling isn’t of legal drinking age yet, he kicked us out by showing us a sign in English that the restaurant does not serve people under drinking age after 10pm.

This is complete rubbish. Instead of putting the sign on the door of the restaurant or telling us as we began to queue OR when he FINALLY let us in the restaurant as he realised there was four of us instead of two, he HAD TO guide us to our tables then slowly showed us the sign.

Coupled with the below comments (rude or even racist behaviour towards tourists) about the staff’s attitude (be it the same one or not), I see NO REASON to recommend anyone to come to this restaurant.

I’m utterly shocked and disgusted by such behaviours, especially when Japan is known for its mannerisms and courtesy. Dining is not just about food.

My family and I were looking forward to experience the delicious meals at this restaurant. However, we couldn’t get in because of the no child policy after 10pm which is reasonable and understandable. Yet, we weren’t informed of this policy and there weren’t any visible signs out there or staffs mentioning to us when we’ve been waiting and standing in the cold with my grandma for more than half an hour not mentioning we started queuing up before 10. The food seemed delicious and the staffs looked lovely but this is however a disappointing experience considering my sister’s young appearance and still, no staffs ever mentioned the policy to us when they’ve approached to us a few times during our wait. Despite our experience, I encourage others to visit your restaurant but I’m offering this feedback in hope that the your company or owner may consider improving communication to enhance customer experience as well as avoiding similar issue from happening again. And again, we were really looking forward to experience this restaurant but I trust that addressing this matter could contribute to a more enjoyable dining experience for your customers....
