I don't know how many times I went there to eat. I love the place. Of course the counter is usable and for those of us in a hurry and alone, it's the way to go so we don't wait too long.
However if you can use their mobile app you can make a table reservation and avoid waiting at the entrance and coming back again and again and sometimes lose your turn. Table reservation? How fancy! Yes, I hear it's not a trendy restaurant for a business meeting or a romantic one. It's a place to eat well, at an unbeatable price (except among this specific industry: sushi fast food chain) and move on.
The food: I am biased. I love Japanese sushi, sashimi, and all the different types of fish they are offering... and anything we can eat in Japan. I ate at many different places all over Tokyo and beyond. This place offers an unbeatable price/quality rate.
I assume the staff is mainly constituted of students since they are very young and seem to come from different countries. They all look like my grand kids.
The Vietnam students are particularly cute and nice in their behavior.
Ok, ok, I won't recommend this place for a date since it give your dating target the bad idea: that you are broke! But it's a place we often go and I never had any bad surprises or issues. But again at this price you can't go wrong.
Atmosphere: noisy but ok. If you look at the kitchen you will see more of a factory than a restaurant. Beer: Ok. Dessert: I don't eat them much. Small but ok. Soup, noodles: ok. I'm not a noodle aficionado but I love woo dong. Their woo dong are ok. I prefer the woo dong chain. I remember the one in Sagamihara. I often went there. Delicious. Personnel: Correct, helpful.
So on and all, highly...
Read moreWe are huge fans of conveyor belt sushi. That said, I'm not really sure why. Especially for people who are somewhat particular about the types of fish we eat, it makes the experience somewhat unpredictable.
This is why I like Sushiro. At first I was confused by the complete lack of anything on the bottom/regular layer of the belt. But on exploring the menu I realized, who cares? It's much better to be able to get anything you want anyway.
Of course, that sort of begs the question, who needs a conveyor belt? It might as well be a robot or a human since the only unique thing this adds is a delivery mechanism.
But from our perspective it's all about efficiency. Being able to peruse the menu on a tablet and put in orders directly without having to wait for anyone is awesome. The efficiency of the whole operation is just cool to see. How does the express belt know to exit your items specifically to your table?? It's like magic.
This concept lets us have complete control over the flow of the meal and the timing. The second we are ready to leave, we tab out and go. The 25-minute wait for a table was more than cancelled out by being able to seamlessly place 6 or 7 orders and then pay our check.
Overall I'm a huge fan.
Of course the fish was great. Top shelf maybe not. But I'd say we very much for what we paid for. Kids and adults alike left very satisfied.
Tip: be sure to peruse all the pages of all the menu categories. There are things we didn't even notice until...
Read moreThe restaurant location is very convenient being not far from the station and in the heart of Ueno. Costumes need to issue a number from the machine and wait for sometime to be seated, sometimes it takes more than 30 minutes. The sushi is very delicious, the presentation of the food also is very nice. It is foreigner friendly, the menu has different languages in addition to English. It is very easy to order. My favourite part was that the dishes you order are delivered to your specific table and it is easier when you are serving the food within a group. It is a good place to enjoy sushi alone or with friends and family, the more the merrier. I love the tea that is provided at the table, the green tea is very delicious. Customers also can order sweets after the meal. Moreover, the restaurant offers a large variety of sushi and fish types to choose from, such as tempura sushi and California rolls, salmon and tuna sushi... etc. It was a very good experience and the staff were very friendly. Finally, customers can pay each other for themselves or for the whole table. The payment system is very easy to use, you can also pay using electronic money applications that are...
