I really want to give this hotel a 4 or 5 star. I want to, but cannot. Staff was amazing, Receptionist essentially sleeps overnight at the reception desk which is in full outdoors nature. No walls just a tiny roof. breakfast was awesome, location is good, further from tourists. I thought the room was beautiful. Water is great. Really clean. Beautiful wood room. Fridge, TV. Several light options/switches. Amazing bed. Comfy and it's like 2 queen size beds put together but is just one mattress. I believe.
But my main issue is the hotel room (at least mine) is not closed off from the outside world. There's a noticeable gap. The door leading in to the hotel room is just like two closet doors that you push in. There is a big gap that led to many mosquitos coming in and biting me throughout my first night and I contemplated leaving to another hotel. I only got 2 hours of sleep and I was exhausted all day. Who knows what other critters could come in too. The wall next to the TV also had a wide open gap about 1~2 cm thick several feet tall. You can see the light pouring in when everything else is dark.
I couldn't really communicate my issue effectively unfortunately. I bought several mosquito repellent products and it mostly worked. I really considered sleeping in the bathroom as the door had a tight seal.
I'd recommend for this hotel to find a solution for the gap. People could also technically peek in at night if the lights are on. It's right next to the bed. For the mosquitos, please add a net covering the entire bed. The ceiling is like.... 40~50 feet tall it's gigantic.
I hope I'm not coming off as an insensitive Westerner. I don't think this is a culture issue and traveling through Laos, I've seen much more poverty and feel very privileged. My family stayed at a different hotel I briefly visited. Maybe 8 foot tall ceiling, no windows. No fridge or tv. Less pretty. However No mosquitos because their door was closed tightly when shut. And about half the price per night. I feel they got the better deal.
I wouldn't say 100% avoid this place, but consider the mosquitos and some preventative measures. Hopefully this can be used to help improve the hotel rather than...
Read moreThis hotel was very reasonably priced and decently located relative to the main attractions of Luang Prabang. I was in Luang Prabang for about five days and am glad I chose to stay here. It's about a 20 minute walk to the main areas of LP, including the night market, etc. Was about US $138 for 5 nights. A great value, overall. ||||The photos online are a tad "polished" when compared with things "IRL", but nevertheless, my overall value was a good one and I was pleased.||||The breakfasts were more than ample - lots of fruit and eggs of your choice with baguette. The room was comfortable with a very high ceiling (if you are upstairs). Water in the shower was nice and hot, which was welcome. Only without a shower curtain, if you are not cautious as you shower, you could really mess up the bathroom. Also, I could only sit in the tub to shower. So, an opportunity for the hotel to make some small changes.||||Above all else, the staff were EXCEPTIONALLY kind and sweet and so helpful. I genuinely felt their kindness. It was so refreshing and nice. ||||Set your expectations correctly and you will be fine. This is not really a "boutique hotel", per se. It's more like a really nice B & B. That's not a complaint at all. It's, I believe, a slightly better characterization. ||||Recommend? Yes, I would. They will take good...
Read moreThis is a small guest house(advertised as a Boutique Hotel)located about a km from the river. There are about 14 rooms in two structures. The woodwork is fantastic Lao-French design. There is one doubleroom on the upper floor with balcony which is nice. Rooms are fairly small but come with a queen size bed which is comfy, cable TV and in room safe. Air conditioning and wifi was good. Breakfast was excellent and served on the balcony outside the room. Eggs to order and fresh juices and fruits including large pancakes. Complimentary coffee and tea is provided thru the day but you need to request. The rooms feel a bit dimly lit and had they used normal lights instead of white ones it would have given the room a warmer look. As other guests have pointed out, noise could be a factor especially those rooms facing the road.||What was really disappointing were the bathrooms which were small, with no bath curtains, dimly lit and had a constant smell of sewage. The hot water and pressure was very good and one could soak in the tub. ||Service was good and the guest house is managed by a Vietnamese gentleman who is very accommodating and helpful.||This could be truly boutique if they upgrade their bathrooms and add more greenery and trees around the property.|Good for...
