The location wasn't too bad as it was just outside the main old town and not too far of a walk. They had some private rooms and the beds were reasonably comfortable. The AC unit was good in the room. ||A few things could be improved and for South East Asia we felt the property was expensive for what you got back. Firstly the walls between the private rooms were paper think, literally just some thin wood and we could hear everything in the room next door, so not really all that private. ||Another thing was the bathrooms, they weren't all that clean at all. Felt like they had never had a good deep clean and like they just get swept up in the morning and that's all. Stains all over and just generally in a state of disrepair. ||The staff too are pretty unhelpful, they just laugh or look at you strangely when you ask questions and don't really answer them. They also booked us a tuk tuk to the docks but it was pretty expensive, I feel like they didn't really negotiate on our behalf and didn't really care at all. ||The steps upstairs are also dangerous. I slipped on them because they are steep, narrow and made from polished wood. They should put something grippy on there because you've got to take your shoes and have just socks on it's mega slippy. I fell from the top...
Read moreWe stayed in a bamboo bungalow, mainly curious about the novelty of it. It's much like a hostel with shared bathrooms and there appeared to be somewhere to make tea/coffee. The bungalow was "cosy" with very little to no room to unpack and beds lay on the floor, not the most comfortable but done the job. The room is equipped with an electronic mosquito repellent of the chemical variety and a standing fan. Not sure how useful these are but we still used our mosquito nets (as have many before us looking at the roof). The host was helpful, laundry was 10,000 per kg and took 24 hours or so. Was a relatively good location, less than 10 minutes stroll to the main street and maybe 15 or 20 to bars like utopia. Would I stay again, probably not but it was sheerly the novelty that attracted us...
Read moreWe stayed here for four nights in a double room. It was very clean and had a fan in the room that was nice to cool off in some warm evenings. We took the downstairs room which had concrete walls as opposed to the wooden panelling walls upstairs - just a personal preference. There are also dorm rooms inside and huts outside so make sure to state your preference before booking. The shared facilities were all clean and we had no problems with that. There are some communal areas that are nice, but it is by no means a party hostel. We found it about our right level with a mix of young guests and some more mature travellers. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our...
