A Tale of Two Experiences - Disappointing for Locals
We visited as a group of four, initially excited by the promising start and beautiful interior. Our appetizers were genuinely enjoyable: the beef carpaccio, prosciutto e melone, Argentinian red shrimps, and Parmigiano eggplants were all well-prepared. We also shared a Quattro Formaggi pizza, which was excellent. We paired the meal with a Prosecco Extra Dry and later a Crémant Brut, which were both good.
Unfortunately, the experience declined sharply with the main courses. While the bisque soup was acceptable, two of our mushroom risottos were inedibly oversalted. Another dish, the steak, was overwhelmingly peppered and contained a significant portion (about 20%) of uncut fat, making it very poor value.
The service was unfortunately very slow, which further compounded our disappointment. We finished with ice cream and Fernet Montenegro, which were good.
The stark contrast between the successful starters/pizza and the failed mains left us with the distinct impression that the kitchen's quality is inconsistent. For the price point, we expect far better execution on all dishes. Based on this mixed experience, we cannot recommend it for a full meal and will not...
Read morecozy, tucked away in what looks like a lovely small boutique hotel in the centre of Riga old town. we arrived as a couple with no reservation. usually we found this not to be a problem, but the place was fully booked. We soon learned why!
We were kindly assigned a table ( near the door so not ideal as the wind was literally baltic outside).
We soon understood why the place was busy. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left we were treated to sublime service and even better food.
I chose prosciutto ham with melon for starters, my wife had avocado and spicy prawns on toast. Both were excellent.
Our mains were Capricosa pizzas. Wow, every element was perfect. Untious mozzarella, juicy plump mushrooms of different varieties, thin salty Italian ham and soft artichokes, with a wafer thin base and crispy fluffy slightly wood fire burnt crust.
For dessert we both had the Tiramisu. A glass of sweet coffee creamy joy topped with fresh fruit hit perfectly.
If you’re wandering around Riga looking for a place to eat, this will not disappoint.
Last word goes to our servers. They were all exemplary. Honestly they would not be out of place in any top establishment in London, Paris, New...
Read moreWe stopped by for lunch today after we were unable to get in for supper last night and saw how nice the restaurant looked. We didn't have a reservation, but we figured we were fine eating early in the day. We were kindly greeted by the hostess/waitress and seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant. The service was great, and we had our orders in and drinks to our table very quickly. We started with a salad, bruschetta (many to choose from), and the mushroom soup. All were very good, but I will say that the mushroom soup was delicious and the presentation was also very well done. The garlic foccacia bread that came with it wasn't my favorite, but my wife liked it. Our pizza came out after our appetizers were done - nothing worse than more food landing at your table when you are halfway done hahaha. Great work by the servers and the kitchen staff 👍. The pizza was very tasty, nice and hot. The restaurant is very well decorated and the chairs are very comfortable. I would recommend making a reservation and trying out this place tucked into Old...
