Summarizing my experience at this hotel is quite challenging. Unfortunately, it ranks among the most disappointing stays I’ve ever had.
Upon entering my room, I was met with a stale and moldy smell. This was corroborated by the staff member who accompanied me to my room.
As I began to unpack, I noticed the room was in poor condition. The fittings, furniture, and floors were all scratched, chipped, or cracked. Additionally, the lighting was quite dim.
The following day, I reported the moldy odor and showed pictures of the room’s condition to the reception. Instead of moving me to another room, the staff's initial solution was to spray air freshener. It took me returning to the front desk a second time, the next day before they finally took action. They presented the room change as a generous upgrade.
While the new room didn’t have the unpleasant smell and was somewhat better maintained, the AC wouldn’t go below 26.5°C. The room remained uncomfortably hot unless I opened the window, which turned off the AC. Despite reporting this issue, no action was taken until I requested it again. The solution was to cut the circuit breaker to the AC in the room.
There were multiple issues during my stay:
The plaque in the elevator indicating "Rewards Floor" is not an official Radisson Rewards benefit.
The discount through the Radisson app does not signify status recognition.
At the CUT Bar, guests need to fetch their own menu, and there are gaps in the hardwood floor that could pose a hazard.
The shower temperature fluctuated between warm and scalding hot.
Room cleaning was inconsistent; I found gravel in both rooms, and toilet paper wasn’t restocked.
The hotel’s décor feels dated, reminiscent of a 90s vision of the future, and the design features are unusual. For instance, in my upgraded room, one could enter the bathroom through the closet from the hallway. The blackout curtains were falling apart at the seams and hooks.
Given these issues, I cannot recommend this hotel. I suggest finding alternative accommodations to avoid similar frustrations. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to reconsider my membership in the Radisson Rewards program, especially since the "Rewards Floor" is not an official benefit.
Ultimately, it seems the hotel is not well-managed, and these issues reflect poorly on the...
Read moreHad a great stay at this hotel and I'd say it's one of the best in Riga (I stayed at 4 other ones). Some reviews mention dated furniture. I'm quite confused what people expect... It seemed pretty modern to me and was in very good condition. The room (1 King bed) was spacious and nicely appointed (one clearly missing nightstand was funny though). The bed was very comfortable. I'm a light sleeper and travel with my own earplugs but didn't need to use them and slept very well. We had a regular room in the middle of the building, with windows facing the courtyard. AC worked well too.
Bathrooms are a little bit awkward, it's a silly design I've seen at other fancy hotels too where the bathroom door doesn't really close. The shower wasn't enclosed, as other reviews notes, and naturally, leaked all over. It wasn't a big issue for us though. Toiletries had amazing scent and were very good quality. Little convenience items like slippers, show horn, etc. in the room.
Breakfast was definitely the best in town. I was blown away by the selection and in 2 days we stayed we didn't even get a chance to try everything, there was just so much! Nice coffee, fresh bread and pastries, plenty of fresh fruit. And you could even special order from the menu, all included. It was well worth the cost.
There was flavored water, some apples and candy in the lobby during the day. Tea kettle in the room and mini fridge. We booked through Expedia but at the check-in the clerk was kind enough to find my old Radisson account, so that we could get free water and other perks.
The location is a bit farther from Vecriga (old town) and typical touristy places, which can be an advantage. It's a short walk to old town and multiple public transport stops nearby. Park across the street is great for jogging and for kids to play, the area is very safe and quiet in the evening.
Everyone we interacted with was very kind and spoke...
