Moxy Kaunas Center — Hotel in Kaunas

I have stayed here twice over the past 2 summers to come visit friends in the wonderful town that is Kaunas. The first stay was great and is the reason I came back for a second stay, but the second stay was anything but wonderful and the next time I am in town this is the last place I will stay. When I arrived at check in the girl who checked me in had as much personality as a wall. No friendly or typical hospitality attitude just here's the card and bye. Her focus as well as much of the problem of the check in process at this hotel was managing the Bar guests instead of handling what this building was built for, a hotel. I am Marriott Gold and she made no notice of my status or even tried to upgrade when it seemed the hotel was VERY quiet and I am sure there were rooms available for upgrade. So pretty much any Marriott status was useless here. Upon check in I was asked if I wanted breakfast added to my stay. I said yes thinking I'd actually use it. I sadly did not as I went to go eat breakfast with my friends every morning. Thinking I could have the 12 euro charge removed given that I NEVER ate breakfast once. Not even a coffee or toast. The hotel refused and that left a sour taste in my mouth as I have had hotels charging 60 euros for breakfast and they remove the charges without issue if I never showed up. Overall the rooms are extremely basic and nothing interesting or unique but that's the type of room Moxy is supposed to be so that met brand standards. I will say my hair dyer bag was absolutely filthy and a €2 replacement bag would have been perfect. I hope the €36 euros is worth for me to never return and to tell anyone else visiting to stay else where.

Also watch your bill here like a HAWK!! My reservation total booked through Marriott was €181. My bill upon checking out was €275. Thank god I was looking through my emails and noticed this or this hotel would have been free to steal from me. When I filed a claim the manger's response was more of sir we did not over charge you why did you open a case. I have included pictures of my checkout bill and my reservation amount total for proof that yes I was overcharged. I had a wonderful stay at the new Moxy Kaunas! I was greeted and checked in by a friendly Moxy staff member named Toma. She made my stay extra memorable with her positivity and friendly attitude toward all guests including myself. If I could give a rating of 5+, I would because of Toma. :)

Overall I would recommend the Moxy Kaunas to everyone! It's located in the city center with lots of bars, restaurants, and shops around the corner. The hotel opened a little over a month when I arrived. Everything is new and as pictured from the lobby/bar area to the room. At check-in, I was offered a complimentary "Moxy Welcome Drink" from a selection of drink options. I enjoyed playing with some of the board games and loved the relaxing vibe and large space of the lobby/bar area. There are many great cocktails and food options to enjoy.

I purchased breakfast and it was a buffet of various cold and warm dishes including bacon, hash browns, eggs, vegetables, fresh breads, fruits, cereals, and yogurts. Due to COVID-19, guests are provided with gloves, extra utensils, and a food tray to grab the food to put onto the plates. I enjoyed my breakfast buffet and rate it a 4 out of 5 given the variety and the current COVID-19 situation.

The Moxy Queen Sleeper room was spacious and the bed was comfortable with a nice city view of Kaunas. The room had USB charging ports and power outlets next to the bed. There's a small desk that can be used to do some work on a laptop. The WiFi internet was simple to connect and fast.

My stay at Moxy Hotel in Kaunas was nothing short of amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the vibe of the place. I found myself spending quite a bit of time here, unwinding and enjoying the atmosphere.

The staff was also fantastic, adding to the overall experience. They were friendly, approachable, and always ready to help with a smile, which further enhanced the laid-back yet professional vibe of the hotel.
