Hom’s Female Cottage — Hotel in George Town

As an international student studying in Malaysia, I feel incredibly lucky to have found this warm and welcoming hostel during my journey.

The hostel is run by MK — a kind-hearted man who feels almost like a father figure. He doesn’t talk much, but his care is shown in the quiet details. He always knows the best local food spots (and yes, they’re delicious!), and he cleans the space often, keeping the hostel tidy and comforting like a real home.

This place is more than just a place to sleep — it’s a “temporary home.” The cozy decor and clean, bright atmosphere instantly put me at ease.

What touched me the most was the women I met here — each one radiant in her own way. Through quiet conversations and shared moments, I saw the strength and warmth that women carry — gentle yet resilient, soft yet powerful.

Whenever life gets too hectic, especially during exam seasons or long breaks, I find myself returning here. I sit on the familiar chair by the entrance, watching the sky gently fall into dusk. The breeze passes by, and slowly, my heart feels lighter again.

This is where I rest, and where I regain my energy.

I feel I will give for this place 10star.it was the best hostel ever still today Place- the location is George Town you can say heart of the Penang ,and more than hostel I would say I find a home here..M.K took care of every corner of this place,and his aesthetic sense is top notch! I fall in love at the time of arrival,lots of plants will welcome you ..this is an attic place to stay,all the light's,plants, decoration will make your soul fulfilled. I took sharing dorms all the beds are comfortable,room are spacious and moreover you get the window to catch the sunlight Bathroom - properly clean and you will find your joy feelings there as he put there candle and joysticks Your soul can connect with yourself with the atmosphere. Service - the old wise man took care of everything,He shared all the informoations about public transport ,you can save all the informations for the future as they are very useful for the travelling. Being a solo girl traveler I was worried about safety but the safety provided by MK is top notch.. If you are enthusiastic about street food you will find all that in walkable distance.. MK helped me to find my proper craft store.. I will highly recommend this place to all the girls who are traveling around Penang. ❣️ I found friends there ❣️I would love to come again and again in Penang...

I was kicked out of this place for something completely absurd - snoring. Yes, you read that right. I was asked to leave in the very early in the morning because apparently my natural sleep patterns were too disruptive.

THERE ARE NO RULES posted anywhere about noise complaints or being evicted for snoring. My first night I also had trouble to sleep because the other girls kept talking til very late, but I did not complaint because there are no rules to keep quite. This is not only unprofessional but also incredibly rude and inconsiderate.

To make matters worse, the host had the audacity to go through my personal belongings without permission and didn't even have the decency to apologize. I've never felt so violated and disrespected.

The host should create clear written rules. How can he afraid of 3 guests asking for refund when they already checked in, and i have to be sacrificed. Totally discrimination. Should learn more on how handling issues.

This place is a complete disgrace and should be avoided...
