Well, where to start... It's hard to review this place as it has a lot of positives and negatives. Let's start with the good things. Pros: Location - It's located quite centrally in Georgetown, so it's easy to get around, as most things are within walking distance or a short taxi ride away. Room - The rooms are quite new and clean. There's a small fridge, an electric hob, a kettle, a microwave oven, plates, knives and forks, spoons, chopsticks etc. so for those that want to eat breakfast or some snacks, it's easy to prepare and eat that in the room. The rooms are big and modern and looks nice. Price - Pricing for our booking was very reasonable, so no complaints here.
Cons: Noise - Not only are the rooms poorly noise insulated from the VERY loud road outside, which makes it hard to sleep at night (there's also a mosque next door that calls out prayer time five times a day), but the floor boards are also very creaky and there's a strange knocking sound going on at random. If I believed in ghosts, I'd say this place was haunted, but I don't, so that can't be it. Staff - Well, there was someone there when we checked in and out, but apart from that we didn't really see anyone working in the hotel, so there's no one to ask for directions or information. Room - Aside from the noise, the room also need proper blackout blinds, as there's a lot of light coming in from the outside, which also makes it hard to sleep at night. Although the rooms appear to be new, there's already quite a lot of wear and tear, some of it which has been poorly repaired and it makes the hotel look "cheap". Bed - Well, it's the second hardest bed I've slept on and I can't say I felt well rested waking up in the morning. I'm all for firm beds, but I've slept on softer dirt. A thicker mattress pad is sorely needed. Bathroom - Well, there isn't one as such. There's a toilet and a shower with a door, but the sink is behind a glass wall that separates it from the bed area. This works fine for a couple, but as the hotel has two single beds that might be shared by people that aren't a couple (like our friends we stayed there with), this is simply a bad idea and I hope hotels around the world would stop with this silliness, as it's not unique to the Loke Thye Kee Residence.
Overall we had an ok stay here, but sadly the cons outweigh the pros and we won't be...

FYI, right across the hotel there’s a very popular breakfast spot. Next to the hotel in the morning you can find Roti Bakar Hutton Lane, and at night there’s Sup Hameed. Across the street, there’s also Penang Road Laksa and a halal dim sum place. Great hotel at a great location.
The hotel is mainly for resting since it doesn’t have facilities like a pool or restaurant, but the room is very spacious and really comfortable. It’s well maintained, relatively clean, and complete with a microwave, dining utensils, and even a stove. I truly recommend it.
The hotel staff, Syaiful, was very helpful, quick to respond, and kind. You are lucky to have a team like this, and we felt very well taken care of.
One suggestion: please add the hotel’s contact number to the Google Business profile. As a guest, this is very important because sometimes there are issues with online travel agents, and it would help if guests could contact the hotel directly. For me personally, being able to reach the hotel easily is an important factor that gives a sense of trust...

The service here is outstanding. Jawad and his team went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional, and I’d like to give special thanks to both Jawad and Saiful. Jawad in particular made everything feel special—he carried our luggage upstairs since there are no elevators, made sure we always had water, and was ready to help with anything we needed. The rooms can be cleaned whenever requested, which was a nice touch.
While the property is a short walk from some attractions, we rented a motorbike and found it very convenient. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations and delivered a truly memorable stay. Highly recommended, and a big thank-you again to Jawad for his efforts and warm...
