When I read that Hyatt Place Johor Bahru Paradigm Mall had recently opened in Nov 2023, I decided to stay here for a night. Hyatt Place by American hotel chain, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts operates on the upper end of the select-service category. This property caters mainly to the upscale business and leisure travellers.
To get to the hotel from Johor Bahru immigration & customs, you can either take a ride-hailing service or board a bus (myBAS 30, 31 or 32) from JB Sentral and alight at the bus stop opposite Paradigm Mall. The bus ride takes about 20 mins.
The hotel is constructed on top of Paradigm Shopping Mall. The reception, restaurant, pool and fitness centre are all located on the 7th floor of the property. The rooms are located from the 9th to 20th floor. I had booked a King Room and was accommodated in Room No. 1807. The room is spacious and offers a king size bed and a large sofa that can accommodate an additional adult or child at no additional fee.
TV entertainment includes cable TV and Malaysia channels. There is no Singapore channel. You can cast your mobile device apps such as Youtube onto the TV unit. Although the TV remote control looks attractive with a backlight, it is a hassle to use as it is not very responsive.
Like what other reviewers had mentioned, the bedside lighting cannot be individually switched on and needs to stay lit together with the ceiling lights. If you switch off the ceiling lights, the former will also turn off.
Even though the room and its amenities are fine, the showering experience is a disappointment. The shower pressure is very weak when the hot water knob is turned up. Fortunately, the saving grace are the bath shower, shampoo and conditioner which work well for me.
Besides the usual coffee and drinking water, I am delighted that the hotel offers TWG Tea, which is a plus point over other hotels here.
Although you can book a room-only reservation and enjoy your breakfast at the eateries inside the shopping mall, you will be disappointed to know that there are no coffeeshops nearby to indulge in local food. With that in mind, I had booked the room with hotel buffet breakfast. The breakfast spread is good and pretty sumptuous. While there is no eggs station, you can order noodle soup freshly prepared by the chef.
Although the room is not perfect, I must commend the staffâs friendly and attentive service, which is a notch above other similar star-rated hotels I had stayed in Johor Bahru.
Hyatt Place Johor Bahru Paradigm Mall is a fine addition to the Johor Bahru hotel scene. Give it some time to polish up its teething problems and they should...
Read moreOur recent 2 nights stay was fabulous. Right from check in to check out. Ms Afiqah (hopefully I gotten the name right) was incredibly friendly, cheerful disposition and yet professional in handling our check in. ||Room was comfortable for our family of 4 (2 A 2 children age 18 and 12) and we opted for a king size bed and sofa bed was readily converted to bed within 20 mins after we checked in . One of my son, 18 years , took the sofa bed and throughout the stay he slept soundly. My husband and I with our 12 years old found the king size bed equally firm, comfortable and it wasn't squeezing at all for the 3 of us. ||We booked the rooms with breakfast and oh my! Breakfast was a wide spread, đ As we checked in on 11th to 13th Oct, bring a weekend, of course breakfast time was extremely crowded and busy, nevertheless the staff still performed with great professionalism and always with a happy and cheerful. The staff we met at Hotel premises including housekeeping never failed to greet you with a Happy Hyatt Place culture. That's how our family summed up the team in Hyatt Place. ||We did a dinner at Seven Bistro, same place for breakfast. Daeng who took our orders was a really likeable guy with a very sweet and bubbling personality. đWe enjoyed our small conversation every now and then with him. He remembered me mentioning to my hubby about creme brulee, my favourite when glancing at the high tea set hotel offered. The chef gave us 2 of it after our dinner and I was so happy đ it was a really sweet gesture that warmth my heart. Dinner menu was mainly pasta and a few local favourites. A definite must try out was Pasta with Slipper Lobster and the Home made Meatball . ||The beauty of this accommodation was it was connected to the Mall at Level 6, without ever stepping out to the sun/rain.||Parking is at Level 6, thereafter take the lift to Level 7 for check in. Plenty of parking lots available. ||Surely we will return if we decide to go to JB anytime in the future. I would certainly go for the high tea set if still available. đ||We Highly recommended to people looking for a staycation and shopping under one roof . ||Thank you to the Team at Hyatt Place during out stay. đâ¤ď¸ for making everything so smooth and enjoyable. ||Kind regards,|The Siew...
Read moreWe booked our first stay at Hyatt Place through Adam. He was very helpful and suggested that we take the 1-bedroom suite, as the hotel was running at full capacity during the school holidays and there were no other options available for our preferred dates. Adam was very patient and attentive to our requests.
We were allowed to check in much earlier since the previous guests had left. The staff at the reception were also very helpful and provided suggestions for breakfast options, as it was not included in our package.
A visit to view the pool also impressed us. It looks just like it does in the marketing photos. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to take a dip during our stay.
On highest level, 20, even the housekeeping staff were friendly and greeted us as we passed by. It seems to be part of the hotel's culture to create a very warm and welcoming environment. Well done and keep it up!
We are familiar with other hotel suites, but Hyatt Place's one and only suite is extremely impressive! Some of its standout features include: Higher ceilings with dimmable concealed lighting A dining area the size of another room, seating 8 people A carpeted living room with a 2+1+1 sofa set High-tech toilets with a digital bidet, dryer, seat warmer, and adjustable water temperature Separate adjustable air conditioning for the three rooms A TV in the bedroom that can swivel (both TVs able to cast your Youtube/Netflix)
They only have one such suite in their 202-room hotel. Boasting 92 sqm, it is the size of three regular rooms and is packed with luxury features and treatment. We have frequented other larger hotel establishments, but Hyatt Place seems to emphasize quality over quantity, offering similar rates but providing a much more luxurious experience.
Breakfast is at level 7. The buffet spread is quite sumptuous and sufficient to our likings. Azlan frequently helped to clear our table. The area is not that big, considering the size of the hotel and we were told that it will be more crowded after 8.30 am.
Although we may not stay over in JB as frequent, I will definitely consider Hyatt Place's suite if we need to and experience the pool in the next visit. Thank you, Adam, and the whole of Hyatt team for the extremely...
